Senior Software Engineer (Python)Who We AreWelcome to TELUS Digital — where innovation drives impact at a global scale.As an award-winning digital product consultancy and the digital division of TELUS, one of Canada's largest telecommunications providers, we design and deliver transformative customer experiences through cutting-edge technology, agile thinking, and a people-first culture.With a global team across North America, South America, Central America, Europe, and APAC, we offer end-to-end expertise across eight core service areas: Digital Product Consulting, Digital Marketing Services, Data & AI, Strategy Consulting, Business Operations Modernization, Enterprise Applications, Cloud Engineering, and QA & Test Engineering.From mobile apps and websites to voice UI, chatbots, AI, customer service, and in-store solutions, TELUS Digital enables seamless, trusted, and digitally powered experiences that meet customers wherever they are — all backed by the secure infrastructure and scale of our multi-billion-dollar parent company.Location And FlexibilityThis is a hybrid role.This model requires the ability to work in a hybrid mode from one of our offices inSão Paulo(2 times/ week or 8 days/ month) orPorto Alegre(3 times/ week or 12 days/ month).Our WFN culture is designed to foster in-person innovation, collaboration, and connection with team members local and visiting from other global offices.The OpportunityAs a Senior Software Engineer (Python), you will be a key member of our growing, globally distributed Engineering team.You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable Python-based applications and services.Working with team members across multiple geographies, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions while ensuring best practices in software development and system architecture.Strong English communication skills are essential for effective collaboration in this diverse and international environment.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop scalable, high-performing, secure, and reliable Python applications that address diverse business needsArchitect and implement efficient, maintainable, and reusable code solutionsLead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisionsIdentify opportunities to enhance internal processes, implement automation to streamline manual tasks, and contribute to infrastructure redesignAct as a guide and mentor to junior engineers, supporting their professional growth and fostering an inclusive working environmentReview code, provide constructive feedback, and share expertise with fellow team members, fostering mutual growth and learningCollaborate with project managers and product owners to assist in prioritizing, estimating, and planning development tasksTroubleshoot production issues and optimize application performanceWrite comprehensive technical documentation and maintain coding standardsEngage in ongoing research and adoption of new technologies, libraries, frameworks, and best practices to enhance the capabilities of the engineering teamQualificationsBSc, MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related subjectAt least 5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer, with a strong focus on building production-level applicationsExtensive experience with Python and its ecosystem, including popular frameworks and libraries (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI)Strong understanding of software design patterns, algorithms, and data structuresProficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflowsExperience with unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven developmentSolid understanding of RESTful APIs and web servicesExperience working with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling projectsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailEffective English communication -
