Uber reimagines the way the world moves for the better, and we're looking for an Associate Counsel on Uber's Privacy & Cybersecurity Legal team to help us do it. About the RoleThis role will work closely with teams throughout Uber, including Legal, Product, Security, and Customer Support, to build privacy into our products and features, drive compliance with data protection laws globally, and maintain a culture of privacy within Uber. This position will report to the Senior Counsel for Privacy & Cybersecurity, Latin America, and will be based in São Paulo.
What You Will
DoAssist with the continued development and improvement of Uber's Privacy Program in Latin America. Create and present engaging company-wide trainings regarding data privacy and security requirements and standard methodologies. Drive privacy-by-design and -default throughout Uber's product development process. Advise Uber product and engineering teams regarding data privacy and cybersecurity requirements, best practices, and Uber's Privacy Principles.
Work collaboratively with local counsels and other stakeholders to negotiate privacy requirements in third-party agreements. Be the primary focal point for Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR) escalations in Latin America. Respond to internal and external privacy and data protection inquiries. Contribute to our ongoing mission to make magic in the marketplace, and drive Uber's efforts to be a trusted steward of our users' personal data in every market where Uber operates.
Basic QualificationsMinimum of five (5) years of legal experience, three (3) years focused on privacy and/or cybersecurity law. Proficient in Latin American privacy and data security requirements, such as Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de Particulares (LFPDPPP). Knowledge of global privacy regulations, such as GDPR and CCPA, is a plus. The ability to juggle multiple projects at a time in an exciting, fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team to stay in sync and working independently to get the job done.
Superior analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, innovative thinking, and a desire to take the initiative and think two steps ahead. In-house legal experience preferred, particularly in connection with technology platforms. Embodies the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability. Active bar association membership in Brazil.
