Software Engineering Manager - Video SafetyRemote - must be based in BrazilAt Platform Science, we're working to connect everything that moves.Founded in ****, we are an open IoT platform that partners with innovative fleets, application developers, vehicle manufacturers, and equipment providers in the transportation industry to deliver revolutionary solutions to supply chain professionals across the globe.Our employees are an engaging, diverse group of people who believe in the power of great ideas.We hire people with different experiences and perspectives to build a company culture that fuels growth through innovation.We value thoughtful actions and empathy for others.We approach challenges with resiliency and creativity, while encouraging transparency because, no matter our backgrounds or responsibilities, we are one team.Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Software Engineering Manager to lead our Video Safety engineering team.This critical role involves overseeing the development and enhancement of our innovative video safety software product, designed to improve the safety of commercial truck drivers on the road.Our system utilizes in-cab dashcams to detect and report safety-critical events such as driver fatigue, close following, and lane departure warnings.These events are then reviewed by back-office administrators via a dedicated portal.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Mentor and coach team members, providing regular feedback and supporting their professional growth and career development.Implement and maintain high engineering standards, best practices, and processes across the team to ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and reliable software.Coordinate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and other engineering teams, to align on goals and deliver integrated solutions, working with a global team spanning North America, Europe, and Latin America (Brazil).Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.Drive technical excellence and innovation, ensuring the team leverages appropriate technologies and architectural patterns.Ensure the team's adherence to project timelines and deliverables while maintaining a focus on quality and user experience.Act as a technical leader, providing guidance and expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS), backend development (Kotlin), and front-end technologies (React).Champion a safety-first mindset within the engineering team, ensuring the product's features and performance directly contribute to safer driving practices.Knowledge of Kotlin and JavaQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred.Experience in software development in a leadership or management role.Proven experience managing and leading high-performing software engineering teams.Strong technical proficiency in cloud platforms, specifically AWS, including services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and others relevant to scalable applications.Experience with front-end technologies, particularly React.Demonstrated experience with scaled, high-availability systems.Solid understanding of software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum) and best practices.Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of leading with empathy, fostering a positive team environment, and effectively managing individual and team performance.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Experience with video processing, computer vision, or IoT applications is a plus.Advanced/Fluent english is mandatory - written and speakingDesired AttributesStrategic Thinker: Ability to understand the broader business context and translate it into technical strategies and team goals.Result-Oriented: Drives for measurable results and holds the team accountable for commitments.Adaptable: Thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment, demonstrating flexibility and resilience.Collaborative: A natural team player who builds strong relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment.Passionate about Safety: Genuinely cares about the impact of our product on commercial truck driver safety.#J-*****-Ljbffr
