Release Train Engineer

Role: Release Train EngineerPosition Type: Full-Time Contract (40hrs/week)Contract Duration: Long TermWork Schedule: 8 hours/day (Mon-Fri)Location: 100% Remote (Candidates can work from Argentina OR Brazil OR Costa Rica)Key Responsibilities1. Program Increment (PI) Planning & Execution: Plan and Facilitate PI Planning Events: Own the PI Planning event from start to finish.This includes preparing the agenda, coordinating with stakeholders and Product Management to establish a clear vision and backlog, and facilitating the two-day event to ensure the creation of a committed and achievable PI plan.Track PI Execution: Monitor and communicate progress toward PI objectives, including the management of risks and dependencies.Ensure that the business value committed to during PI Planning is being delivered.Facilitate System Demos and Inspect & Adapt (I&A): Lead the System Demo at the end of each iteration to provide an integrated view of the new features.Facilitate the Inspect & Adapt workshop, where the current state of the solution is demonstrated and evaluated, and the team reflects and identifies improvement backlog items.2. ART Synchronization & Coordination: Facilitate ART Sync Events: Lead the crucial ART Sync meetings, including the Coach Sync and PO Sync.Ensure these events are productive, focused on progress, and effective at resolving impediments and dependencies between teams.Manage Risks and Dependencies: Proactively identify and track impediments, risks, and dependencies across teams on the ART.Work with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure swift resolution.Coach and Mentor: Act as a coach for Scrum Masters, Team Coaches, and other stakeholders within the ART.Foster a culture of continuous improvement and servant leadership.3. Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Facilitate Leadership Meetings: Organize and lead regular meetings with key stakeholders, including business owners, product management, and technology leaders.Ensure alignment on priorities, communicate progress, and provide visibility into the ART's performance.Communicate with Stakeholders: Serve as the primary point of communication for the ART.Provide clear, concise, and regular updates on status, risks, and performance to all levels of the organization.Drive Relentless Improvement: Collect and analyze ART performance metrics (e.g., predictability, flow, velocity).Use this data to drive discussions and actions for relentless improvement during the Inspect & Adapt workshop and other forums.4. Release Management & Governance: Manage and Optimize the Flow of Value: Use tools like the Program Kanban and other information radiators to visualize and manage the flow of features and capabilities from ideation to release.Coordinate Release Activities: Work closely with Product Management, System Architects, and DevOps teams to plan and coordinate the release of value.Ensure that the ART's releases meet quality standards and are delivered on a predictable schedule.Ensure Compliance and Governance: Ensure that the ART adheres to any necessary governance standards, including quality and security checks, before value is released to customers.Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support team and firm goals.Requirements Essential Qualifications and Skills: 5+ years of experience in a software development environment.2-3 years of experience as a Release Train Engineer, VSE, or Senior Scrum Master in a SAFe or other scaled Agile environment.Proven experience planning and facilitating Program Increment (PI) Planning events for a large Agile Release Train (ART).Deep understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and its principles.Excellent facilitation skills, with the ability to lead high-stakes meetings and workshops with senior leadership and diverse teams.Strong servant leadership skills with a commitment to coaching and mentoring.Experience with Agile management tools such as Jira Align, Rally, or similar.Preferred Qualifications and Skills: SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification.Experience with DevOps principles and a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment.Background in release management or program management.Demonstrated ability to manage risks, dependencies, and impediments in a multi-team environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence across all levels of the organization.
