Transformative Backend Engineer RoleA transformative opportunity awaits in our team, where talented engineers join forces to craft scalable and user-centric systems.About the OpportunityWe are seeking a skilled Golang developer to join our billing engineering team, responsible for powering internal and external billing services.As a key member of our collaborative team, you will design, build, and maintain microservices that power Cloudflare's billing systems.Responsibilities:Design and implement Golang-based microservices that interface with external financial and operational systems.Develop RESTful APIs that work seamlessly with event-driven systems and streaming architectures using Kafka.Manage containerized deployments using Kubernetes and Docker, ensuring smooth operations at scale.Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across teams to deliver new features and maintain operational excellence.Diagnose and troubleshoot production issues across distributed systems, ensuring minimal downtime.Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture planning sessions.Contribute continuously to improving system reliability, scalability, and security.Required Skills and Qualifications5+ years of professional backend development experience.Strong hands-on experience with Golang or proven ability to quickly ramp up.Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend microservices.Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL).Proficiency with Kubernetes and Docker for container orchestration and deployment.Familiarity with event-driven systems (Kafka or similar).Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment with multiple stakeholders.Preferred QualificationsExperience integrating with ERP systems such as Oracle, Workday, Anaplan, or NetSuite.Familiarity with API standards and tools (Swagger/OpenAPI, OAuth, JWT).Exposure to Temporal or similar orchestration tools.Knowledge of distributed systems, security best practices, and observability.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.Passion for building reliable, scalable, and user-centric systems at global scale.
