We operate a founder-led, profitable, and growing company with a remote-first culture, meeting in person a few times a year in interesting locations.We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team working closely with cloud giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to optimize Ubuntu for their infrastructure.
Your team builds, tests, and publishes Ubuntu images used globally, ensuring performance, security, and a consistent user experience across clouds.Key responsibilitiesBuild and lead a team of engineers across multiple time zonesMentor and develop team members' skills and careersContribute technically through code reviews and architectureManage stakeholder expectations and collaborate with other teamsImplement modern, agile development practicesFoster a healthy, collaborative engineering cultureAutomate image delivery, testing, and publishing pipelinesEngage with internal teams, open source communities, and partnersTravel up to 15% for internal and external eventsQualificationsPassion for mentoring and developing engineersStrong software development background, especially in Python and GolangExperience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google CloudExcellent communication skillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalentWhat we offerDistributed work environment with in-person team sprintsAnnual learning and development budget of USD 2,000Competitive compensation with annual reviewsBenefits including leave, parental leave, wellness programs, and travel opportunitiesAbout CanonicalCanonical is a pioneer in open source, publishing Ubuntu and leading in AI, IoT, and cloud innovation.
