About Specialty Capital Specialty Capital was founded just four years ago with a bold idea - to give "debanked" small businesses access to capital that's Simple, Smart, and Reliable.Today, the company is among the top revenue-based finance companies in the U.S., serving thousands of merchants through a combination of speed, technology, and a deeply human approach.We're now entering our next chapter and scaling into new financial verticals (credit cards, payments, and neo-bank integrations) and expanding internationally, starting with Canada.The company is profitable, founder-led, and growing rapidly with a culture built on grit, ownership, and mission.Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Technical Architect to shape the technological foundation of our rapidly growing small business lending platform.This fully remote position offers the opportunity to design and implement cutting-edge financial technology solutions while working with a dynamic team focused on revolutionizing business financing.The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in mobile application development and financial services technology to help us build scalable, secure, and innovative lending solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Technical StrategyDesign and evolve the comprehensive technical architecture for our lending platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and securityDefine and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across all technology initiativesLead technology selection and evaluation processes for new tools, frameworks, and platformsCreate technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives and product strategyProvide technical guidance and mentorship to development teamsMobile Application ArchitectureArchitect and oversee the development of native mobile applications for iOS and Android platformsDesign mobile solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences for loan applications and account managementEnsure seamless integration between mobile applications and backend servicesOptimize mobile application performance and offline capabilitiesPlatform DevelopmentCollaborate with SaaS vendors to ensure platform configurations align with architectural standardsDesign and implement API strategies for internal and external integrationsArchitect microservices and serverless solutions using cloud servicesDevelop architecture strategies for analytics, reporting, and machine learningImplement AI and automation solutions to streamline lending processesSecurity & ComplianceDefine security architecture and implement defense-in-depth strategiesEnsure architectural compliance with financial industry regulations and standardsDesign secure data handling and encryption strategies for sensitive financial informationLead security reviews and threat modeling exercisesImplement monitoring and incident response architecturesTechnical LeadershipProvide hands-on technical expertise in node.js, React, Swift, Java / Kotlin developmentReview code, architectures, and technical designs to ensure quality and standardsFacilitate technical discussions and decision-making across teamsEstablish development standards, coding practices, and documentation requirementsDrive continuous improvement in development processes and technical practicesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field;
