Gold & Aron Conseil is an executive search company. We are recruiting a CLO on behalf of our client. Our client is a growing Brazilian fintech with strong social impact and evolving from a startup into a disciplined, institutional-grade organization. In order to accelerate growth even more, the firm is seeking a Chief Legal Officer . The Ideal candidate is someone who can lead all legal related initiatives, navigate complex landscapes, build & manage a high performing team, serve as a trusted advisor to the founders and get things done (not as an advisor but as a legal executive-operator). Responsibilities Manage all legal matters (mostly domestic but some international exposure as well). Build, structure, and lead a high-performing in-house legal team, including: (i) Defining clear scopes between in-house vs. external counsel; (ii) Hiring, developing, and, when necessary, upgrading talent; (iii) Implementing SLAs, prioritization frameworks, and legal intake processes; (iv) Ensuring legal is a force multiplier, not a bottleneck Process Professionalization: Transition the legal department from "startup mode" to a disciplined "financial institution standard". Risk Optimization: Translate legal constraints into business options. Quantify downside, propose alternatives, and recommend paths that maximize long-term enterprise value Regulatory: Manage the process of applying for SCD (Sociedade de Crédito Direto) License, exposure to Central Bank of Brazil (BCB), Open Finance, Consumer protection at scale (BACEN + SENACON dynamics), Structuring new financial products under regulatory ambiguity Be ready to contribute to potential capital raise/M&A processes, manage data rooms, oversee due diligence, and negotiate complex term sheets. Qualifications 15–20 years of experience. Ideal candidate will bring a generalist expertise being able to navigate Brazilian Employment law, Tax basics, Contract law (Brazil & International), Regulatory, M&A. Ideal candidate has a combination of top-tier law firm and in-house Start-up experience (ideally at a Fintech)Proven People Leadership Language: English fluency is a must. Location: São Paulo. (Hybrid work environment)This role is NOT for: Pure advisory profiles who prefer external counsel to execution Lawyers who have not personally built, hired, and performance-managed teams Professionals uncomfortable making fast risk trade-offs with imperfect information Candidates who need heavy structure before acting
