Research Engineer Linux

Job Description

As a Research Engineer, you enjoy tackling challenging problems, devising new approaches, and designing technologies. In this role, you will be an integral part of a "think tank" team dedicated to addressing current and future demands on Linux systems.

We expect you to possess a broad and deep understanding of Linux systems, including the intricate ways in which individual components interact and operate collectively. Consequently, you will be capable of crafting prototypes and proof-of-concepts for innovative designs. You will engage with the openSUSE community and technology partners to discuss the projects you're involved in and align your ideas and solutions with their input. Additionally, you will collaborate with others to elucidate and document your novel designs, establishing a robust foundation for their broader adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze existing technologies.

Create prototypes by leveraging existing technology and incorporating essential new components.

Engage with experts to explore novel problem-solving approaches.

Particularly engage with the openSUSE community to discuss new technologies and designs.

Identify customer requirements and devise solution architectures.

Effectively communicate with various stakeholders regarding technology matters.

Collaborate with SUSE internal teams to integrate your proof-of-concept into our products.

Present your designs to relevant audiences.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.

Typically, 6-10 years of experience.
