Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an Intern to join our Pool of Interns as part of our Latin America investment team. Based in São Paulo, Brazil , the Intern will be part of a Pool of Interns that plays a key role in multiple projects covering different departments working across our Active Equities Latin America and Real Assets groups. Interns will occasionally participate in projects to support the São Paulo Office Finance team and Operations. Interns will be allocated to projects of such teams based on business needs and taking into consideration your background and preferences.

The Pool of Interns will support deal teams in different asset classes to source and evaluate potential investment opportunities, conduct due diligence, develop investment recommendations, evaluate potential deal structures, and perform in-depth financial analysis. Working across different teams will give you great insight into your abilities, interest and passions to grow your career at CPP Investments.

You will quickly advance your knowledge and expertise through skills-based training and stimulating on-the-job assignments working in a high performing and collaborative environment with colleagues who are leading experts in their field.

What you’ll do

Investing Activities

Support research and analysis to evaluate and identify investment opportunities; including past and projected financial performance, quality of management teams, investment merits and risks, expected returns, regulatory environment, industry dynamics and other relevant factors Support team in performing valuation analysis, including DCF models, precedent transactions, comparable company analysis, and relative value compared with the benchmark Support team in reviewing third-party due diligence reports (legal, accounting, industry strategic reviews, environmental, etc.) Assist in drafting and presenting investment recommendations, taking into account due diligence and analysis of opportunities

Asset Management Activities

Assist in maintaining financial model for portfolio companies; update model with quarterly results, update forecast and valuation assumptions Stay up to date on industry trends and key events Support ongoing financial performance analyses of industry peers Assist in evaluating potential exit strategies

Interns should occasionally assist with projects to support the São Paulo Office Finance team and Operations including activities such as budget control, preparation of internal reports, management of vendors relationships, tax matters.

We are committed to an apprenticeship model whereby the Intern will learn on the job through continuous coaching and training.

Overview of Participating Groups

Active Equities Latin America

Direct and indirect equity investments in companies, acquiring stakes in, or providing strategic capital to, public and private companies to help generate meaningful longer-term outperformance relative to their peers. Investments range from more than $100 million to several billion dollars for a 5-25% ownership position typically. Each investment results in an active ongoing relationship with management teams and boards of directors. The group focuses particularly on transformative growth opportunities, supporting M&A, and transitioning significant shareholders.

Real Assets

Infrastructure : Direct investments in large- scale infrastructure assets globally, typically in the regulated networks (electric, water, gas utilities), transport (roads, ports, airports, rails), and communication and energy sectors. Sustainable Energy Group: Focuses on evolution of the energy industry and growth in sustainable energy- market, with significant, flexible capital to leverage our combined thought leadership on tomorrow’s energy ecosystem. Real Estate: Typically invests via joint ventures with large, well-capitalized, real estate companies and dedicated asset managers across all major sectors such as industrial, office, shopping malls and multifamily. RE’s joint venture partners provide local market expertise and are responsible for day-to-day asset management. In addition, RE has made strategic investments in both private and publicly-traded real estate operating companies.
