Position Summary: The Senior Public Affairs Advisor will lead and execute the company's public affairs strategy in Brazil. This role involves managing government relations, developing policy positions, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring that the company's interests are effectively represented at the local level. The Senior Public Affairs Advisor will work closely with the regional and global public affairs teams, as well as other departments such as legal, marketing, and operations.

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to contribute actively to the identification, development of opportunities, and mitigation of risks for the terminal and logistic business. Achieves this by facilitating and managing interactions with legislators and other government decision makers as well as industry organisations and if relevant the non-governmental sector.

Leads and integrates the stakeholder & communications strategy together with the entities management under a unified coordinated strategic in order to execute harmonised actions in benefit of the continuous operation of the terminal and logistics business in the country.

Provides executive leadership in communicating company profile, benefits and advantages to all levels in society including government, business community, associations, general public, as well as international influencers, prospects and stakeholders.

Develop and execute in the community an effective Corporate Social Responsibility strategy to demonstrate in the long run Maersk/APMT strong values.

Main Accountabilities
1. Government Relations:

Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, regulatory bodies, and industry associations in Brazil.

Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that could impact the company.

Advocate for the company's interests in policy discussions and negotiations.

2. Policy Development:

Develop and articulate the company’s positions on relevant public policy issues.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of policy positions with business objectives.

Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and other documentation to support advocacy efforts.

3. Stakeholder Engagement:

Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including NGOs, community groups, and industry partners.

Represent the company at public forums, industry conferences, and other events.

Manage communication and collaboration with external stakeholders to build coalitions and support for company initiatives.

4. Strategic Planning:

Develop and implement public affairs strategies and plans to advance the company's objectives in Brazil.

Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies related to public policy and regulatory changes.

Provide strategic counsel to senior management on public affairs issues.

5. Internal Coordination:

Coordinate with regional and global public affairs teams to ensure consistency and alignment in messaging and strategy.

Work closely with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all public affairs activities are conducted in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on public affairs activities and outcomes.

6. Communications:

Develop and execute communication strategies to support public affairs initiatives.

Prepare speeches, presentations, and other communication materials for senior executives.

Manage media relations and respond to inquiries from the press and other external parties.

Reporting and Scope

The position reports directly to the Regional Head of Public Affairs LAM.

The position work in close collaboration with legal, sustainability, and investment teams at local and corporate level.

The scope of the position is domestic.

Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experiences

Deep understanding of the Maritime and Port Business.

Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to lead and influence both internal and external stakeholders.

Must have strong analytical and strategic thinking and able to evaluate solutions for both long and short-term benefit.

Exhibits sound judgment. Measures results and takes corrective action when needed.

Strong team player with the ability to work across different departments and regions.

Familiarity with rules & regulations of local bodies in Brazil as well as Public Administration matters.

Flexibility to navigate a complex and changing political landscape with high ethical standards and commitment to compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company values.

Exhibit excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, as well as mature stand-up presentation skills as a public speaker, with a cool demeanor to handle intense scrutiny.

Knowledge of local language (Portuguese) is essential.
