Main activities and responsibilities

Legal Role:

·Acts as a Business Partner in all activities relating to the contractual negotiations and company’s statutory obligations

·Drafts complex transactions and contracts independently

·Gives complex and contextual legal advice and guidance (including training of key customers in specified legal areas) with strong operational and business acumen by setting legal necessities in context with competing operational needs

·Identifies risks relating to business activities and potential solutions therefor; raises business’ awareness of legal issues and ensures early Legal involvement to protect company’s legal position by giving timely legal advice to facilitate management decision-making

·Makes decisions independently within a broad framework

·Provides expertise on local country law and legal conditions

·Manages significant disputes and litigation and/or investigations

·Leads projects within Legal, and provides legal support for commercial initiatives and activities

·Manages relationships and monitor the work of outside counsel and legal experts

·Guides, counsels and supports the work of more junior Legal Counsels, paralegals and support staff

·Provides expertise in one or more substantive areas (e.g. Privacy, Transactions, Litigation, HR and Regulatory)

·Coordinates as appropriate with business and Legal associates

Compliance Role:

·In coordination with and reporting to the Head of L&C Brazil, establish Compliance standards based on internal policies such as Code of Conduct, The Lens, marketing practices and all applicable local laws and regulations

·Oversee local requirements relating to national law and national industry codes and ensure that all business practices conducted in the country comply with such requirements and with the global minimal standards as contained in company- wide policies

·Facilitate the establishment and communication of local processes and SOPs, and any additional local requirements

·Conduct on-boarding and refresher training on compliance standards, such as Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery, The Lens, promotional practices and other relevant compliance related areas

·Ensure communication of the Alcon Ethics Helpline process for reporting allegations of misconduct

·Investigation of alleged misconduct based in coordination with Global Compliance

·Support Management regarding disciplinary measures of misconduct

·Consider appropriate ways by which associates learn about possible consequences of Compliance related misconduct or best practices

·Share best practices/learning with colleagues in Global Compliance

Requirements:

·Fluence in English

·Admitted to Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil - OAB

·Legal practice in Brazil

·Significant experience in legal and compliance practice related to the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry (+ in house experience)

·Proven ability to proactively provide insightful and timely legal support to stakeholders across a functionally and geographically-dispersed organization

·Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·Speak up culture, persuasive negotiator and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders

·Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry and customer needs with an ability to deduce the implications for Alcon and implement solutions

·Strong leadership skills

·Sound experience in litigation

·Passion for business integrity topic and impeccable integrity track record

·Strong knowledge of compliance issues facing Alcon business

·Ability to represent Alcon externally on integrity / compliance topics

·Experience with corporate responsibility and with balancing global standards
