Position: Staff Software Engineer

About the Position:

Uber is expanding its presence in Latin America by opening its first development center in the region, located in São Paulo. We are seeking exceptional talent to join our engineering team in Brazil, where you will have the opportunity to impact various technological and business decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts within the organization to develop and maintain backend services and solutions that support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.

  • Balance technical and managerial responsibilities, utilizing your extensive software engineering experience to mentor and guide a team of talented engineers.

  • Focus on advanced technologies to enhance global safety, including advanced telematics, machine learning, high-scale distributed systems, real-time data processing, and mobile development, among others.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field OR more than 10 years of professional experience in Software Engineering.

  • 7 to 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, or Go.

  • Significant experience in technical management roles, with the ability to lead and mentor teams while maintaining strong technical expertise to drive complex projects.

Technical Skills:

  • Distributed systems.

  • Product engineering.

  • Scalability engineering.
