Senior Accountant

Opportunity for multinational mineral exploration company.

The Senior Accountant will lead the finances for the Brazilian operations, on a project in the state of Minas Gerais. The role requires the candidate to work well with autonomy and allocate their time where value can be added for the project.

The finance team is expected to grow over the next few years, so energy and ambition to build and develop a high performing team are considered highly desirable. The successful candidate will perform their role in collaboration across a number of areas (drilling, studies, permitting) so a teamwork orientated mindset is essential.

Key responsibilities:

• Preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations
• Maintaining the general ledger system
• Monthly and annual financial statements; assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable
• Supporting the project team on analytical and commercial projects
• Working with the technical team to prepare accurate monthly cash calls
• Applying accounting for reporting and compliance, including in accordance with GAAP
• Coordinating the budget process
• Custodian of governance around payment approvals and other internal controls
• Supporting implementation of an updated ERP
• Hiring, training and supervising accounting staff
• Managing working capital

Requirements:

• Background working in the mining sector is desirable
• Fluent communication in English
• Previous experience working with SAP ERP is highly desirable
• Flexible communication hours are a requirement
