The Role

Nonwovens Markets is the leading source of pricing and news for the global nonwovens industry.  Nonwovens are a family of technical fabrics used to make diapers, wet wipes, surgical gowns, house wrap, automotive interiors and many other consumer and industrial products.

The Tissue Market is one of the most important paper grades covered by Fastmarkets that consume a large amount of virgin pulp and recovered paper across the globe. It is a fast-changing industry with relations that go beyond B2B and also reach final end users in the chain. There are several investments taking place all the time in this industry, from small machines to large operations.

The price reporter is responsible for reporting prices and writing industry news and market reviews, engaging with sources at events, meetings and creating strong relationships with market participants.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for price, news, stories and overall reporting of Fastmarkets Nonwovens Markets Service. Back up team in other parts of the world when necessary.
  • Responsible for price, news, stories and overall reporting for Tissue Markets in Fastmarkets.
  • Write market stories as needed to explain pricing developments, as well as cover other relevant industry topics, including those that affect the markets.
  • Write monthly Price Watch letter summarizing latest trends in market pricing.
  • Write and update Nonwovens Company Profiles articles and capacity database.
  • Work as needed on online news relevant to the industry for the website.
  • Travel and attend conferences and visit facilities as needed and related to the industry that are important to the company and to the markets covered.
  • Continually develop sources and contacts important for understanding market pricing and market news. Develop and maintain relationships with industry associations and other key stakeholders.
  • Work as a back up for the pulp and paper coverage in Latin America when needed, interacting with other team members, peer reviewing prices and assisting during specific periods of time.

Our working scheme is very flexible but with a hybrid approach. You will be expected to be at our office in Avenida Paulista at least two times per week and go to in person meetings when necessary to meet your sources and engage with the market.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

  • Experience of four to six years in price reporting and/or journalism.
  • Ability to develop high-quality coverage.
  • Strong news writing and interviewing skills, ability to analyze complex, fast-changing market and business conditions and work with statistics.
  • Ability to gain high-level working understanding of key industry technologies and technical terms and understand importance of technologies to producers and their customers.
  • Ability to gather market intelligence and develop networks of industry contacts.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with senior corporate and association executives in global industry.
  • Achieve a high level of accuracy while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment on multiple projects.
  • Fluent English is mandatory for this role as all stories and reports are written in the language. We encourage you to apply even if you had no previous experience with working in an international media outlet as the company provides training and support for your learning journey.
  • Knowledge of Spanish is a plus as this role will require a lot of interaction with industries in Latin America.
