Data-Driven Fraud Prevention Specialist

As a Fraud Business Analyst Intern, you will play a key role in strengthening our fraud defenses by supporting process audits, rule tuning, and data-driven investigations. This role focuses on validating the effectiveness of existing robotic process automations (RPAs), accretify rules, and anomaly detection signals.

  • Audit and validate existing fraud rules configured in the accertify platform to ensure they are working effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in quality assurance reviews of RPAs related to fraud monitoring and decision-making to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the anomaly detection team to analyze triggers and evaluate false positives/negatives to refine the accuracy of our anomaly detection system.
  • Help design and test Splunk dashboards and data visualizations for fraud alerts and system monitoring to provide real-time insights into potential threats.
  • Document and report gaps or inefficiencies in current detection logic or process automations to inform improvements to our fraud prevention strategies.
  • Perform basic root cause analysis of anomalous behavior and support process remediation to prevent future incidents.
  • Participate in fraud case reviews, helping to translate operational observations into structured findings to inform our fraud investigation procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a degree in business analytics , finance, information systems, criminal justice, or a related discipline to bring relevant knowledge and skills to this role.
  • Strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset to identify and address potential weaknesses in our fraud prevention processes.
  • Exposure to data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python) and visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Splunk) to leverage data insights and drive business decisions.
  • Interest in fraud prevention , financial crimes, or enterprise automation to stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and capable of working independently in a collaborative environment to drive results and achieve goals.
