The Solutions Engineer (SE) is a sales and technical role, part of a sales team, working with F5 end-user customers and partners. The high-level objective is, together with a Named Account Manager, to achieve the allocated sales target by selling F5’s solutions to a predefined number of end-user accounts. The SE drives F5 solution sales with end-users and channel partners, including demonstrations and Proof of Concept tests (hands-on) that enable successful implementation of F5 technologies at selected accounts. The SE develops and delivers the sales team’s technical strategy, ensuring the best-matching and business-effective F5 solutions are presented to customers. In customer engagements, the SE uses a consultative sales approach to understand existing business and technical solutions, identify pain points, and articulate the gains from implementing a F5 solution. The SE discusses both technical and business benefits to establish a value relationship and become a trusted advisor to customers. Collaboration is essential; the SE works with the team’s salesperson to drive the sales process, identify the Technical Decision Maker (TDM), obtain technical validation and sponsorship from the TDM, and coordinate with partner sales teams to define solutions that address real customer needs. The SE should have solid technical skills on F5 key solutions and related ecosystems. While capable of broader coverage, emphasis is placed on building deep expertise in a focused set of use-cases (Prime Solution), becoming the regional expert and supporting other SEs with guidance from other experts in key use-cases. Ongoing training and certifications are provided by F5. Primary responsibilitiesUnderstand customer needs and design a technical solution that addresses business problems or enables new customer services. Provide technical expertise through sales presentations, solution designs, demonstrations, and Proof of Concept tests as a trusted advisor. Design differentiating solutions and articulate the business value of F5 Solutions. Provide solution designs and suggest technical configurations. Maintain a high level of technical knowledge of F5, the relevant industry, and sales aptitude. Develop and support content for customers and partners (presentations, use cases, etc.). Foster a collaborative, team-based environment and build positive relationships. Maintain awareness of the competitive landscape and share insights. Actively utilize SE tools (Salesforce.com, SharePoint, email groups, and other SE Readiness programs). Understand and utilize F5 organizational resources; negotiate effectively and resolve conflicts. Uphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics; promptly report violations or policy issues. Engage in customer sales activities, building relationships with technical teams and articulating F5’s sales strategy and value proposition. Identify, qualify, and drive opportunities from a technical perspective; map out opportunity viability and political structure. Deliver sales pitches and whiteboard sessions at technical and executive levels. Post-sales activities include following F5’s support case processes and guiding customers on faster case resolution. Maintain a customer-obsessed mindset in all interactions. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent written and oral communication in the native language and English. Excellent presentation skills. Proficient knowledge in industry- and F5-targeted technologies (Security, Cloud). Proficient knowledge in Network & Multi-Cloud Design; experience with networking, SNMP, and syslog. Experience with Identity Management and Federation technologies (AD, Radius, TACACS+, LDAP, SAML, OAuth). Experience with Network Security (Firewall, IDS/IPS, Access Control) and Application Security (WAF). Experience with DNS, HTTP, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP; knowledge of servers configuration and troubleshooting. Experience with virtualization technologies; Active Directory & Domain Design. Programming/scripting languages (Python, TCL, Java, Perl, C/C++, etc.). Automation and orchestration tools (Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, etc.). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure & Google Cloud). Qualifications8+ years related industry experience. 5+ years pre-sales experience, working with channel partners. BS/BA or equivalent work experience.
