Development Architect

Overview

Development Architect (m/f/d) Business Data Cloud Technology Office at SAP. This role is part of a highly collaborative central architecture team responsible for SAP's data management strategy and the backbone of SAP's platform and product portfolio.

What you'll do

Define the general and future architecture for the BDC&I cloud platform and service. Work with leading-edge technologies and collaborate with internal stakeholders and business partners to understand scenarios and needs, align concepts within the unit and across SAP. Contribute to paving the way for development teams to adopt concepts by creating and developing required organizational and process networks in conjunction with product management. Act as a spearhead of the development organization, driving and aligning architecture topics across the entire company through the central architecture alignment board. Work in a diverse and distributed team, driving architecture and technology strategy into actual project work and execution with SAP BDC&I and LoB development organizations. Contribute to LoB adoption and ensure the success of the new Business Data Cloud Service through data product delivery by the LoBs. This role suits an enterprise-focused, ambitious individual who can thrive in a highly flexible environment with skilled professionals.

What you bring

• Desire to work on the leading edge of cloud-based platform, analytics, data management and data integration technologies, including the emerging Lakehouse architectures / data fabric topics
• Experience in Spark and Object Store technologies to support Lakehouse architecture
• Knowledge and experience in LoB-specific data platform development projects
• Track record of quickly adapting to new environments, balancing tradeoffs, and demonstrating flexible, pragmatic, and long-term thinking
• Leverage AI technologies for data management and analytics and contribute to technical building blocks enabling SAP's global Business AI
• Profound experience in data integration technologies (SAP data, non-SAP data, data lakes) and enterprise applications
• Established record of accomplishments as an architect with analytics and data management engineering teams
• Ideally experience leading data warehousing projects as an architect and leader
• Practical experience operating Cloud-scale services in production, with focus on scaling and resilience
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to drive product- and technology-related discussions internally and externally
• Ability to communicate and influence effectively at executive levels
• Self-motivation with a positive can-do attitude and the ability to work quickly
• Strong background in large-scale software development and architectural tasks
• Profound knowledge of cloud environments
• Strong customer and partner orientation
• Degree in Computer Science or related fields
