Position Summary
The purpose of the Nordic Lead position is to insure an outstanding guest experience to all Nordic guests through daily leadership and oversight of all departmental personnel in accordance with company and departmental policies.
The position requires a strong interest and proficiency in Nordic skiing with knowledge of all facility operations, programs, ski rental and retail procedures.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
In conjunction with Nordic Manager and Supervisor, assisting and overseeing essential functions and daily operations of Nordic Lodge including:
- Opening and closing duties of daily business and facilities.-
- Efficient and accurate performance of all ticket, cashier, and office functions.-
- Program sales, scheduling, and assignments.-
- Monitoring of ticket stock and office supplies.-
- Ensuring accurate pricing, security and merchandising of retail inventory.-
- Daily inspections and oversight of rental equipment repairs and maintenance.-
- Maintaining safety and cleanliness of Lodge facility, contacting Lodge Services and Building Maintenance when required.-
- Handling and coordinating all incidents, contacting emergency personnel when required.-
- Gracious and effective handling of all guest and employee concerns and problems.-
- Communicating with Nordic Manager regarding safety issues, operational needs, staffing and personnel issues.Secondary Function- Training new employees in department procedures.-
- Assisting/performing with daily conditions updates when required.-
- Assist with Nordic Center event planning and execution as directed by Manager.Job Scope
Assist in management of daily operations for nationally recognized Nordic ski operation, 56 km groomed trail network maintained daily from November through May with Ticket, Retail, Rental, Event, Program and F&B operations. Assist in training, motivating, and creating safe workplace for 40 paid employees and 12 volunteers.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Number of employees supervised: 40 paid employees and 20 volunteers.-
- Positions supervised: Nordic Instructors, Nordic Rental Tech, Ticket Gate Attendants, and Volunteer National Ski Patrol.-
- Scheduling and assigning work: Clinic Assignments, Daily operations and tasks for paid staff and volunteers.-
- Training: Assist with new hire training.-
- Salary actions: None.-
- Disciplinary actions: Initial counseling as required, proactive communication of disciplinary issues with Nordic Manager.-

Specific Job Skills- License/Certifications: None required, OLCC and OR Food Handler's cards preferred.-
- Technical: Proficient computer skills, cash handling, use of waxing irons, scrapers, drills, hand tools, shovels, axe, splitting maul, ice chipper.-
- Physical Capabilities: Able to stand for long periods of time. Reach, lift, push, pull, and perform outdoor chores in inclement weather. Able to Nordic ski at an intermediate level.-
- Additional: Knowledge of and proficiency in Nordic skiing. Guest service.Education/Related Experience- Minimum education required: None, ability to follow and give directions-
- Minimum time in related position: 1+ year in a guest service-based position, Nordic setting preferred.Current Hiring Range: $17.00/hr
