Job Title: Data QA Engineer (GCP) – Testing & Data Observability
Location: Remote EST time zone delivery from LATAM only (priority from Brazil).
Reports To: Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) Delivery Teams
Type: Contract / Full-Time
Start Date: 2 weeks.

This is not a Data Engineer position and not a Full Stack QA or Application QA role.
This role is for a Quality Assurance Engineer working specifically in the Data Engineering space , with a strong focus on testing and validating data pipelines in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .
Candidates must have hands-on experience in data testing , SQL-based validation , and monitoring data quality in production environments — not just coding or building pipelines.
Job Summary
We are looking for two Data QA Engineers (GCP) to join our Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) delivery teams. These engineers will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of data pipelines running in Google Cloud Platform , through rigorous test design, execution, and monitoring .
This role goes beyond traditional QA. You will be involved in building test cases , reconciling data , and contributing to ongoing observability of data quality through dashboards and validation frameworks , enabling trust in analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Data Engineers and Business Analysts to define quality requirements.
• Design, document, and execute data validation test cases for GCP-based ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Perform manual and automated testing of data ingestion, transformation, and output processes.
• Use SQL and testing tools to validate data across source and target systems.
• Reconcile variances in structured and unstructured data; identify patterns and anomalies.
• Create and maintain dashboards or alerts for ongoing data quality monitoring (observability).
• Contribute to root cause analysis and suggest corrective actions for recurring data issues.
• Log and track data defects in tools such as Jira, and collaborate with developers for resolution.
• Conduct regression and post-deployment validation to ensure ongoing pipeline stability.
• Support performance validation of pipelines in production environments.
  
  

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in data QA, data testing, or data validation roles.
• Strong experience writing and executing SQL queries for validation.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT testing workflows and data pipeline architecture.
• Experience working with GCP data services, especially BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Storage.
• Hands-on experience with defect tracking, triage, and testing lifecycle processes.
  
  

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with automated data testing tools, e.g., Great Expectations, dbt tests, or custom Python-based scripts.
• Experience creating monitoring dashboards for data quality in production.
• Knowledge of Python or scripting to automate data validation tasks.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint).
• GCP certification or formal training in cloud-based data engineering.
