Engineering at TRACTIAN: the Backend Engineering team builds and scales the infrastructure powering our platform, from advanced monitoring products to our CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). We design and develop robust systems that handle large volumes of real-time and historical data from industrial assets. We craft and maintain data-intensive microservices, resilient APIs, and scalable ETL pipelines. Our work spans relational and non-relational database schemas, event-driven architectures, and performance optimization under high-throughput workloads. Backend Engineers work with firmware, frontend, data, and product teams to deliver features that improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and modernize industrial operations. What you’ll do as a Backend Software Engineer: design and build critical APIs, microservices, and ETLs powering our core products, from industrial monitoring systems to our CMMS platform. You’ll evolve backend architecture to meet scale, performance, and product-excellence demands, directly impacting thousands of users across industries that rely on us to keep operations running. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain data-intensive, high-performance backend services based on an event-driven architecture. Develop and maintain APIs and services that power real-time monitoring features and complex maintenance workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure backend applications align with the overall product vision and user experience goals. Optimize applications and data processing workflows for performance, speed, efficiency, and reliability across environments. Continuously evolve systems through refactoring, introducing best practices, and improving maintainability and observability. Document architectural decisions and technical implementations for current and future maintainers.
