Primary Care Physician

OverviewPrimary Care Physician - BC Family Medicine at Community Health Centers of the Central Coast, Inc. (CHC). Reports To: Chief Medical Officer. FLSA Status: Exempt. Wage Range: $9,230.77 - $11,220.06 bi-weekly. Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, but with independent responsibility for professional results, the Physician provides primary healthcare services for CHC and performs related work as required. CHC aims to provide the highest quality of total care to the patient population; employees are expected to be professional, punctual, maintain regular attendance, cooperative, organized, and enthusiastic. Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSecure and evaluate a patient''s health history and record findings in a systematic, accurate, and succinct manner. Perform physical assessments and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings. Provide routine physical examinations, diagnostic services, and treatment of illnesses and emergencies. Adhere to high ethical standards and assure quality of care for all patients. Share on-call duties with other medical staff as indicated. Elicit and record information about patient medical history; examine patients to determine general physical condition. Order or execute tests, analyses, and diagnostic images; analyze reports and findings to diagnose conditions. Administer or prescribe treatments and drugs; inoculate and vaccinate patients; advise on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention. Report births, deaths, and outbreaks to governmental authorities; refer patients to specialists when needed. Perform minor surgeries and conduct physicals for school admissions, job considerations, or insurance eligibility. Assist the Chief Medical Officer in establishing medical policies and education programs; participate in care coordination and policy development as required. Share supervisory responsibilities of the nurse practitioner with the Clinical Director as required; work within privileges and protocols established by the CMO. Participate in committees as requested; adhere to safety and infection control policies; provide age-appropriate care across patient populations. Maintain HIPAA-compliant, confidential communications; participate in patient population management with cultural sensitivity and appropriate local resources. Coordinate with the Care Team to arrange appropriate services and support patient goals; contribute to quality improvement using evidence-based practices. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesMay supervise mid-level providers at the direction of the Chief Medical Officer. QualificationsEducation: Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school. Residency: Completion in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics; board certified or board eligible. Licenses and Certifications: Current, unrestricted Physician and Surgeon license in California; current DEA license; ACLS for FP/IM; PALS for Pediatrics; BLS (all specialties). Continuing education: Maintains current knowledge through CME and participation in relevant medical societies. Language Skills: English required; Spanish bilingual desirable.
