Duties Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations, interpret laboratory and diagnostic data, formulate differential and working diagnoses, and develop treatment plans within scope of practice. Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, including blood, tissue, EMG, ECG, compartment pressure, X‑ray, CT, MRI, and bone scans. Perform procedures such as digital blocks, regional anesthesia, and minor outpatient surgeries including tendon repair, wound closure, debridement, drainage, needle biopsy, percutaneous pinning, K‑wire removal, and hardware removal. Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures: joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, joint and tendon injections, trigger point injections, and brace, cast, or splint applications. Assist in surgery (first assist, tissue closure, appliance application), conduct hospital rounds, write orders, take call, evaluate hospitalized patients, and dictate discharge summaries, histories, and physicals. Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medications, orthoses, orthotics, braces, and orthopedic devices as authorized by state legislation. Evaluate, screen, and counsel patients on health maintenance, promote utilization of community resources, and design or participate in research studies, database management, and quality assurance. Other duties as directed by the Department Chair. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; licensed or license‑eligible in VA, DC, and MD.
