Position Overview:

KEO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underwriting and Risk Manager to join our team in Brazil. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both the corporate sector and the fintech industry. As the Underwriting and Risk Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of our underwriting processes, managing risk effectively, and contributing to the overall success of our operations in Brazil. The position will report to the Global Head of Risk and the Brazilian Country Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the underwriting process for corporate clients, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential financial losses and optimize business performance.
• Analyze financial data and market trends to assess creditworthiness and make informed underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute underwriting policies and procedures.
• Monitor and evaluate portfolio performance, identifying improvement areas and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Stay abreast of industry developments and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Significant experience in conducting fundamental credit analysis at a leading financial institution in Brazil.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in underwriting and risk management in Brazil.
• Proven expertise in being able to assess the qualitative strengths of a business as well as performing in-depth analysis of financial statements.
• Experience in commercial credit assessment and/or underwriting with the ability to underwrite and make decisions/ recommendations on short-term credit lines, determining appropriate credit capacity, structuring facilities, and risk mitigation techniques.
• Sound portfolio management skills.
• Knowledge of public agency ratings and supporting analysis.
• Ability to understand current macroeconomic trends and make respective sound recommendations to improve the PD estimation based on the business cycle.
• Ability to communicate succinct rationales for credit decisions, written and oral, to audiences with a non-financial background.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English; additional languages are a plus.
