At Porticus, we’re working towards a just and sustainable future where human dignity can flourish. Through our partnerships, in education, society, faith and climate we enable changemakers to create societies and systems that work for everyone. We strive to understand the complexities of the systems we seek to change, assessing where we can make the most impact and engaging the skills and knowledge of broad coalitions of local and global partners to tackle the root causes of problems. Porticus professionals develop and manage grants and programmes in more than 90 countries. Lasting solutions aren’t achieved quickly or lightly, but we believe that together we can make a fairer, more sustainable world a reality.
Job DescriptionPorticus is committed to an evidence-informed path to all its grant making while keeping a systems change lens for long-term investments as a way to achieve social change. Structured as a matrix organization, Porticus has thematic leads that support sectoral work and regional leads that support the contextualization and prioritization of sectoral work in the regions. The functioning of both these arms is supported by common central functional units, such as the Communication, People and Culture, Grants Operation and the 360* - which plays a key role in supporting Porticus as a strategic philanthropy, working in partnerships, with learning and evidence towards system change.
The Regional Analyst (RA) will work in tandem with this matrix structure and support Regional Teams (Regional Directors and Programme Managers) of Latin America and North America in developing and implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) methods, in close alignment with the 360 Team´s values and practices. The RA will always support the 360 Team in communicating, training and implementing Porticus ways of working in the regions, making sure that Porticus philanthropic approaches, such as Meaningful Participation and GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) are being put into practice in our work on the ground. Occasional support to programs within sectors and strategic grant-making outside of sectors might also be requested. Through this, they will contribute to the high quality of Porticus’ strategic philanthropy and, ultimately, towards enabling lasting positive change in society.
Porticus is on a learning journey and is continuously evolving its monitoring, evaluation and learning practices, and it is expected that the RA provides contributions to this endeavor.
In this role, the RA will be based in Sao Paulo, and will support the LATAM and North America team in collaboration with the 360 team (based in Amsterdam).
Key responsibilities
Supporting the Regional Teams:
- Providing support to the regional framework with MEL: co-design learning questions, provide Programme Managers and Grantees methodological support, ensure strategic alignment to regional plans, and synthesize insights derived from regional seeding and innovation.
- Contributing to the development of MEL skills (conceptual and practical) for regional staff.
- Facilitating cross-regional learnings and knowledge exchange, making sure that best practices are shared and contribute to our regional goals.
- Support the translation of strategic decisions, learnings and results in a variety of forms, as resources for decision-making.
Supporting 360 Team:
- Contribute to strengthening Effective Philanthropy ingredients (e.g. Meaningful Participation, Culture of Evidence, Purposeful Learning, GESI) and new strategic initiatives, and influencing them from a regional perspective.
- Contributing to the development of a simple learning approach/agenda within regional teams.
Other areas of complementarity:
- Pursue regional effective philanthropy opportunities: building key learning/research partnerships, for example with key co-funders, experts, and champions within the region.
- Support the translation of key results and visualization of the interconnectedness of exploratory and sectoral work.
- Sharing this research and analysis in a variety of forms, both verbal and written, to primarily internal audiences, including staff, Regional Directors and governance committees.
