Summary

The Control and Automation Engineer PL is an integral part of the Manufacturing Engineering and S2QDC teams. This position is responsible for achieving and maintaining productivity and scrap goals for a specific area of responsibility. The individual is responsible for developing and implementing improvements that include equipment reliability and efficiency, technician and operator skills, and cost optimization. This person collaborates with the Manufacturing Engineering and S2QDC teams to enhance production and quality metrics, providing the appropriate engineering support for the respective production area.

Experience in assembly cells for Valve Control components, responsible for monitoring, adjusting, and implementing improvement strategies for machines in the sector. This professional will serve as a reference for others, assisting in the training of less experienced team members.

They must have a focus on identifying root causes and proposing actions or processes for continuous improvement.

The Manufacturing Engineering department is an elite team that promotes the development of technical and interpersonal skills. This department is flexible and embraces diverse perspectives as it tackles projects with significant impacts on the organization's financial and operational resources.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Works with the Process Engineering group to integrate new processes and implements new solutions alongside the Process Engineering team.
  2. Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineers, tool technicians, and engineering specialists to implement simple, intermediate, and complex engineering solutions.
  3. Conducts machine calibrations with the quality department and proposes corrective actions when necessary, ensuring that process measurements fall within required precision and tolerances, in accordance with the laboratory scope matrix.
  4. Ensures proper adjustments in all vision systems of all machines and proposes corrective actions when the Poka Yoke system is ineffective, validating with more experienced engineers.
  5. Develops skills and ensures preventive maintenance for inline measurement machines, taking responsibility for necessary adjustments in collaboration with the quality team and more experienced engineers.
  6. Coordinates the timing and resource application when addressing significant or long-standing issues or implementing planned improvements.
  7. Develops and participates in Lean/Green/Black Belt 6 Sigma projects aligned with A3 methodology, seeking opportunities for cost reduction and statistical analysis of available production process data.
  8. Applies root cause analysis tools; 5 Whys; Ishikawa cause and effect analysis; implements corrective actions.
  9. Verifies and restores process configurations.
  10. Works with the Project Engineer on more significant process changes.
  11. Supports other plants facing difficulties by identifying problems and processing improvements, with potential travel as needed for support.
  12. Ensures all machines are properly calibrated, that Poka Yoke systems are functioning correctly, and that data exports from processes are being executed accurately.

Qualifications

To successfully perform this role, the selected candidate must be able to satisfactorily carry out each of the essential tasks.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Over 3 years of experience, preferably in Automation and Control Engineering or a related area. Fluent English is mandatory.

  6. Solid knowledge of tools, technologies, and best practices.
  7. High ability to work independently.

  9. Experience in managing improvement projects.
  10. Experience with equipment assembly techniques.
  11. Experience in programming systems such as Beckhoff, Siemens Step 7, and Siemens Sinumeric 840DSL.
  12. Knowledge of component assembly processes with interference tolerances.
  13. Knowledge of TPM and 6S.
  14. Essential to have experience in a multicultural and global organization.

Technology: Ability to interact with and understand the SAP system, Maintenance Management Software, programming software, vision system software, and inverter programming.

Willingness to Travel: Occasional travel, up to 10%, including international travel.
