E&C + Renewable Energy Underwriter - Mexico City

Would you like to join a dynamic team responsible for handling Engineering & Construction Projects and Operational Renewable Energy deals in all Latin American Countries? This is a hybrid position which will offer strong opportunities for professional growth.

About the Role

This role requires you to target and assess E&C Projects for various industry classes and Renewable Energy deals, engage with brokers and clients in Latin America, as well as booking the risks properly in our systems, offering them the required maintenance over time.

Key tasks:

  1. Grow profitably Wholesale E&C + Renewable Energy portfolio, while providing high quality underwriting services and solutions to clients.
  2. Conduct post underwriting activities such as risk survey, account servicing and claims supports.
  3. Strengthen Swiss Re Corporate Solutions leading position in important Latin American markets based on company strategy, i.e. marketing activities, client underwriting training, risk survey, etc.
  4. Work together with a cross-functional team to strengthen partnerships with Wholesale clients to achieve win-win solutions.
  5. Play an active role in the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Global Engineering community in terms of knowledge sharing, special projects and/or research topics.
  6. Properly maintain underwriting documentation, ensure good data quality in the underwriting system, and follow up post-bound activities such as premium payment, claim data, filing.
  7. Grant underwriting support to Direct Insurance operations in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico through additional capacity, peer reviews, and phone calls.
  8. Develop the renewable energy book in Latin America with a focus on Operational Wind Farms, Solar PV plants, and BESS.
  9. Work to improve processes and operational excellence within E&C and Renewable Energy.

About the Team

This position is part of a team composed of 4 underwriters with different backgrounds, split between Mexico and Brazil, which is responsible for 60%+ of the regional Gross Written Premium for this line of business in Latin America. The team is proud of offering exposure to different types of experiences as well as to experienced underwriters worldwide with whom you can exchange and learn a lot.

About You

You should have a collaborative profile and be able to communicate very well; new ideas excite you and you're keen to explore new experiences and possibilities.

  • Engineering background: any kind.
  • Previous experience with Engineering & Construction Insurance OR Renewable Energy Market.
  • Ability to handle a high workload.

Nice to have:

  • Fluent in Portuguese.
  • Proficient in MS tools such as: Excel, Word, and Power BI.
  • Flexibility to travel abroad.
