Position Overview

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of Islands’ technical innovation, architecting and refining cloud infrastructure that supports our groundbreaking products—both client-facing and internal. You’ll help design and scale microservice-based architectures, work hands-on with AWS, and ensure our continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines are airtight. This is a flexible role, ideal for full-time or part-time candidates.

Responsibilities
  1. Design and implement scalable, highly-available cloud infrastructure using AWS and microservices architecture.
  2. Collaborate with developers to manage cloud resources for our core projects, including Frameflow, our cutting-edge AI-powered QA Engineer.
  3. Lead CI/CD pipeline development, ensuring continuous deployment with zero downtime.
  4. Oversee infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and other modern tools.
  5. Optimize for performance, security, and scale as our products expand to new markets.
  6. Experiment with the latest DevOps technologies to continually improve our infrastructure.
Qualifications
  1. 5+ years of DevOps experience with hands-on cloud architecture in AWS.
  2. Proficiency with microservices architectures and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  3. Expertise with CI/CD pipelines and automation. You have built scalable IaaC in the past with Terraform or similar.
  4. Experience with version control (Git, Mercurial, or SVN), reverse proxies, microservices, gRPC, K8s, and Kubernetes architecture, Github Actions.
  5. Familiarity with our tech stack and experience as a developer in at least one of the following: React, Node.js, Typescript, and Python for Machine Learning.
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset.
  7. Experience with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
