Overview Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical. This role coordinates and completes large, complex, customer-facing projects, acting as the primary delivery liaison between Canonical's engineering teams and customers. You will manage projects involving the delivery of Ubuntu images to devices ranging from robots and IoT devices to PCs and automotive systems, and you will build and maintain relationships with team members, customers, partners/vendors, and Canonical departments. Responsibilities Managing projects through their complete life cycle and ensuring that the goals for both Canonical and the client are met Delivering engineering professional services for assigned projects Collaborating with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images Assisting in the development of project statements of work Drafting and maintaining project-specific schedules and plans Obtaining client agreement to the project schedule and work items Ensuring delivery within time, resources, and scope Managing project risk mitigation and plans Addressing technical issues to achieve delivery outcomes Maintaining daily and weekly communication with the client and internal stakeholders Managing delivery schedules for third-party deliverables Keeping management informed of project status Identifying custom engineering requests outside existing contracts Advocating Canonical technologies to customers Supporting different time zones and non-traditional hours as required What we are looking for in you Solid project management experience delivering engineering services to customers and managing software development teams and field engineers Experience managing cross-cultural, multi-continent projects (Asia, Europe, Americas) Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math Good knowledge of Linux, Open Source Software, and computer architecture Excellent verbal and written communication in English Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with experience building partnerships and working with demanding sponsors PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred Ability to work non-standard hours to support a worldwide team Willingness to travel up to 4 times per year for internal events What we offer colleagues Distributed work environment with two in-person team sprints per year Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year Annual compensation review Recognition rewards Annual holiday leave Maternity and paternity leave Team Member Assistance Program & Wellness Platform Opportunity to travel to new locations to meet colleagues Travel upgrades for long-haul company events About Canonical Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source.
