Nubank – Model Risk Senior Specialist We’re inviting experienced model risk professionals to join Nubank, a leading digital banking platform operating across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. Founded in 2013, Nubank leverages innovative technology and outstanding customer service to redefine the financial experience across Latin America. About the Team The Model Risk team ensures that Nubank’s models meet business and customer needs while controlling associated risks. We provide independent review and challenge, identify improvement opportunities, and implement governance and validation standards to continuously enhance model quality. Position Overview This is a senior individual‑contributor role that requires strong machine learning and analytics experience, along with knowledge of Expected Credit Loss (ECL) parameters: PD, EAD, and LGD. You will be responsible for Conducting independent reviews of quantitative models based on financial, statistical, and machine‑learning techniques, with a focus on credit risk provisions and capital. Providing effective challenge to models and modelling processes, identifying risks and engaging with other teams to strengthen decision‑making tools. Developing playbooks and toolkits (Python, SQL, Scala) to optimize model reviews, ongoing monitoring, and assess the impact of models on decisions. Contributing to the construction of Nubank’s Model Risk Management and Model Review processes with autonomy and creativity. Discussing and reporting model risk status and receiving independent opinions from stakeholders, including senior managers and regulators. Being exposed to models from different countries and regulatory requirements. Ensuring compliance with relevant local and international regulations and accounting standards concerning credit provisions, including BACEN 4966 and IFRS 9. Maintaining technical excellence and actively contributing to model risk controls and processes that strengthen compliance. Mentoring junior staff on best practices for model oversight and validation. Working in a multicultural, diverse, and highly skilled environment. We are looking for a person who has Experience developing or validating quantitative and/or machine‑learning models, especially in credit provisions and capital requirements. Interest in reviewing complex models to identify risks and propose enhancements. Strong data‑science skills and knowledge of machine‑learning tools and techniques. Excellent programming skills, with desirable experience in Python, SQL, and GitHub. Ability to learn fast, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Organized, detail‑oriented, yet able to maintain a big‑picture view. English language proficiency. Experience with local and international regulations and accounting standards related to credit provisions and capital, such as BACEN 4966, IFRS 9, and ICAAP.
