About This Opportunity

Are you a compassionate nursing professional looking for flexible work in an educational setting? Moravian Academy, Pennsylvania's 9th-oldest independent school (founded in 1742), is seeking dedicated substitute nurses to join our healthcare team across our three-campus system. This immediate-start Substitute Nurse position offers the perfect blend of meaningful healthcare work and educational environment flexibility, serving over 850 students from Preschool through 12th grade.

What You'll Do

As a substitute school nurse, you'll be the healthcare hero our students and staff depend on:

  • Administer medications and treatments with precision and care
  • Provide immediate response to student and staff illnesses and accidents
  • Implement individualized health plans and emergency care protocols
  • Bridge communication between families and the school regarding health concerns
  • Maintain detailed health records and documentation
  • Collaborate seamlessly with school personnel and resident nurses
Our Campus Locations
  • The Swain Campus (Grades PS-8) — 22-acre contemporary campus in west Allentown
  • Downtown Campus (Grades PS-8) — Historic landmark district in the heart of Bethlehem
  • Merle Smith Upper School (Grades 9-12) — 120 acres of green expanse in Bethlehem Township
What We're Looking For Essential Requirements
  • Current RN or LPN licensure in Pennsylvania
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
  • Nursing or school nursing experience preferred
Clearances Required
  • Criminal Background Check (Act 34)
  • Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
  • FBI Criminal History Record
  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (Act 168)

All schools in Pennsylvania are required to obtain the following background clearances once they have hired a candidate for any job. FBI Fingerprint Check PA Criminal Background Check (PA State Police) Child Abuse Clearance Check Act 24 - signed affidavit stating no prior convictions Act 168 - sent from our HR Department to previous employers for feedback Proof of a negative TB Test By continuing with the application process, you acknowledge that if you are the finalist and are offered a position, you will be asked to provide all of the above clearances before your first day of work.
