Location & Remote Work: Our technology team operates under a "remote-first" model, which means we work from home and can live anywhere in Brazil. We also offer the option of working from our São Paulo offices or partner coworking spaces, up to twice a week.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Data Engineer Specialist to join our team. The responsibilities of this role are to design, build, and maintain a robust, self-service, scalable, and secure data platform and end-to-end data pipelines that empower Data Analysts and Data Scientists to deliver insights and drive strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a high-performance data platform that meets the company's needs, connects with product solutions, and leads analytical innovation, enabling architectures and efficient platforms.
• Create and edit data pipelines, considering business logic, aggregation levels, grouping and transforming fields, data quality checks, and data cleaning.
• Develop data modeling and transformation workflows to create clear and accessible data abstractions.
• Manage the full code development lifecycle (monitoring deployment, documentation, performance, security, metrics, alarms, SLO compliance, and more).
• Investigate inconsistencies and trace data source differences (data troubleshooting).
• Enable self-service data access and well-modeled datasets for teams across the company.
• Align with stakeholders to understand needs and propose scalable, incremental solutions.
• Conduct PoCs and benchmarks to select tools (off-the-shelf vs in-house development).
• Contribute to defining strategic vision across teams and services.
• Advocate for data analytics and a data-driven culture within the organization.
• Be a reference within the chapter on technical concepts, tools, and best coding practices.

What we are looking for

• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering roles.
• Specialist in Big Data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce) and multiple languages (Python, YAML).
• Experience with Airflow, Spark, AWS, and Databricks.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles and data-centric systems.
• Experience with columnar storage solutions and/or data lakehouse concepts.
• Proficiency in Python or another major programming language; commitment to clean, maintainable code.
• Strong knowledge of optimizing SQL query performance.
• Experience building multidimensional data models (Star/Snowflake schemas).
• Understanding of data lifecycle concepts (lineage, governance, privacy, retention, anonymization).
• Knowledge of infrastructure areas (containers/orchestration, CI/CD, Terraform, observability with Prometheus/Grafana).
• Proficiency in English (code, documentation, tools are often in English).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
• Experience as a tech/project lead or similar role.
• Curiosity, detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

You will stand out if

• Experience building large-scale data platforms for big data sets with Spark, Trino, Hive, Atlas, Ranger, etc.
• Experience in building semantic layers.
