Senior Backend Engineer

Role summary The Senior Backend Engineer is a crucial position within Vingcard ASSA ABLOY primarily responsible for designing developing and maintaining robust backend solutions that power our innovative access control systems for hotels and adjacent markets. The role demands a deep understanding of backend technologies including Spring Boot Spring MVC Java and Kotlin. The candidate will work in a dynamic cross-functional team to deliver high-quality software that enhances the functionality and performance of our products. Job Location: Brasilia Brazil KEY Responsibilities Design develop and maintain backend applications using Spring Boot Spring MVC Java and Kotlin. Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements using server-side logic. Write clean maintainable and efficient code. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle from design to deployment. Troubleshoot debug and optimize backend systems. Ensure high performance and responsiveness of the application. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current backend technologies and best practices. Participate in code reviews providing feedback and suggestions for improvement. Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior developers helping them navigate technical challenges and grow in their careers. Ensure adherence to best practices in software engineering including code quality testing and documentation. Reporting to the R&D Manager for project assignments and career development. External: Interact with external stakeholders during product demos or user feedback sessions. Experience with observability technologies (e.g. Datadog). Experience with Git versioning systems. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Requirements Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or related field. 6 years of professional experience in backend development. Proven experience with Java Kotlin Spring Boot and Spring MVC. Familiarity with Git versioning systems. Languages Proficiency in English for listening reading and writing. Intermediate speaking skills in English. Proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese. Computer skills Proficiency in software development tools version control systems (e.g. Git) and Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment pipelines. Proficiency in Java / Kotlin. Deep knowledge of Spring MVC and / or Spring Boot. Proficiency in interacting with relational databases. Working knowledge of distributed architectures and messaging systems (RabbitMQ AMQP etc). Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS Kubernetes etc). Experience Software Engineer Backend Engineer or similar position. Minimum 6 years of experience. Expected outcome and deliverables - (For the role on a 3-5 years horizon) Over the next 3-5 years the Senior Backend Engineer will contribute significantly to the development and optimization of our backend systems ensuring they are robust scalable and efficient. The role will play a key part in enhancing the functionality of our access control solutions delivering high-quality software that meets the needs of our customers and stays ahead of industry trends including launching new products. Vingcard Athos Team The Vingcard Athos team based in Braslia Brazil specializes in developing innovative solutions for the Build-to-Rent market catering to both long and short-term rentals of furnished apartments. As a small and dynamic team we manage the entire solution including IoT devices backend frontend and mobile applications. We operate on a hybrid work model with three days in the office and two days working from home. While our primary language of communication is Portuguese all our code and documentation are in English and meetings involving other teams are conducted in English.
