What You'll Do

The Coding Specialist - Ambulatory Services applies knowledge of chart auditing including CPT, HCPCS or ICD-10-CM coding guidelines to ensure complete and compliant code assignment in professional clinics, outpatient and inpatient hospital settings, nursing homes or home settings. Responsibilities include reviewing all available documentation for each patient encounter and assigning appropriate codes that accurately represent medical necessity. You will utilize standard query and clarification processes to ensure consistency between documentation, charges and codes. Adheres to the AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and AAPC Code of Ethics and the official coding rules and guidelines. Occasional travel to Gundersen Health System facilities will be required.

What's Available
  • Full Time - 80 hours biweekly (1.0 FTE)
  • Day Shift. No weekend rotation
  • This position will be working remotely
  • Starting pay of $21.15/hr and up, based on your years of experience
  • We can only accept candidates from WI, IA, and MN.
What You'll Need
  • REQUIRED: 1 year experience in a healthcare facility, health care business office or equivalent education.
  • REQUIRED: CPC or CPC-A or CCA or COC or CCS or CCS-P OR RHIA* or RHIT* (certifications required as listed)
