Overview

Rotating through our warehouse, counter sales, and inside sales departments on the way to becoming an Inside Sales Representative. Engage in training classes, webinars, and on-the-job training to understand why customers buy and how to become valuable and profitable. The roadmap provides the background and experience needed for success when you are ready to call on customers. Our Sales Trainees move through various positions, with each step building toward an effective Inside Sales career.

Program Summary

Each rotation will be a hands-on experience to understand how to enter a sale all the way through getting it packed, delivered, and invoiced correctly. Each rotation exposes the trainee to different situational experiences requiring problem solving and dedication to serving customers and fellow employees. Trainees engage in training classes, webinars and on-the-job training designed to accelerate their understanding of how to better serve our customers. Roadmap Rotations
  • Warehouse ~ 6 Weeks
  • Counter ~ 6 Months
  • Product Groups (Gear/Lighting/Pipe/Wire/OnPoint) ~3-6 Months
  • Inside Sales with Assistance ~ 3 months
During Rotations You Will
  • Learn and effectively communicate United’s value proposition to our customers
  • Develop relationships with vendors leveraged for future sales calls
  • Participate in self-paced web-based trainings for sales and product training, including two NAED EPEC modules
  • Work closely with internal departments, combining efforts to better serve the customer
Location During Training Program

Flexibility with locations to maximize the roadmap. May need to be in locations with a counter and product groups during rotations. Supporting other locations for coverage as needed.

Position Responsibilities as an Inside Sales Representative
  • Sell to customers over the telephone and digitally, discussing their specific requirements, product information, pricing, and timeframes for product delivery
  • Perform ECLIPSE sales system order entry
  • Communicate technical information received from within the company or manufacturer to the customer, including long lead times or ship delays
  • Arrange with vendors to source materials and prices needed by the customer that are not common stock to United Electric
  • Resolve customer problems including lost shipments, damaged items, returns, emergency needs, and billing issues
  • Collaborate with expeditors and other internal departments to ensure prompt, accurate delivery
  • Continuously learn product and industry knowledge to enable better communication and greater sales
  • Proactively alert customers to sales and promotions to generate additional sales
  • Maintain Weekly Open Order Report, Customer Calling Queue and other customer files as needed
  • Follow up on open quotes and provide feedback to pricing or product groups
  • Keep up to date on all ECLIPSE trackers
  • Process Credit Card Sales according to company policies as needed
  • Communicate with Outside Sales Representatives and Pricing Department to adjust customer pricing in ECLIPSE when necessary
  • Meet or exceed sales budget by proactively seeking new business and participating in selling programs and promotions
  • Work closely with all internal departments to better serve the customer
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Safety
  • This is a safety-sensitive position
  • May be required to operate powered industrial trucks
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. several times a day, bend, twist, and climb
  • Adhere to all United Electric health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Act safely and responsibly to protect yourself and others
  • Complete an accident/incident report for any safety and/or health infractions that occur or are witnessed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Strong interpersonal understanding
  • Experience in effective conflict resolution
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and proactive
