About the team

As Nubank continues its global expansion and innovation, the risk landscape becomes increasingly complex. The BCO team was created to directly support the various Business Units of Nubank with managing their risks in a proactive manner, assuming the 2nd and 3rd lines of defense do not exist. BCOs contribute to developing the BCO structure and help create best-in-class risk management in the 1st line of defense.

About the role

To support the Business Units in achieving their objectives, BCOs are expected to balance risk and business priorities. By being hands-on, they will lead by example and support the teams, keeping in mind the vision: To empower the 1st line Nubankers to become proactive Risk Owners, ensuring adherence to standards and protecting the interests of the company and stakeholders.

BCOs follow 3 pillars of focus:

  • Processes & Internal Controls : Ensuring that our functions/BUs are managing their risks through understanding their processes and its control environment, and identifying opportunities for improvement to drive efficiency with partners across the lines of defense.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance : Ensuring functions/BUs align with internal and external regulatory and risk requirements, enabling stronger internal governance to focus on product and feature development.
  • Measuring & Reporting : Developing appropriate KPIs to monitor programs and ensuring functions/BUs deliver as established.

As a BCO you will

  • Support/coordinate the business in managing and fulfilling its First Line Risk Management activities (Onboarding, due diligence, credit and financial analysis on large, corporate and payment institutions, Losses & Risk Events, Internal control management, continuous improvement).
  • Build relevant governance in a useful and non-bureaucratic way
  • Define and rate the internal control & risk environment
  • Proactively identify risk areas and tackle remediation activities
  • Add a risk lens to strategy and product development
  • Drive and complete documentation activities to minimize single point sensitivities and conduct process mapping

  • Product and/or Non-Financial Risk knowledge
  • High level SOX knowledge a plus
  • Hands-on and take ownership where possible
