Scope of this role

We are looking to hire a Release Engineer to join our growing company. This position will be part of our Engineering department based in our Sao Paolo office in Brazil. The role will maximize the engagement metrics of Netcracker’s digital properties, as well as the software release configurations according to Customers requirements for projects around the world. Role and responsibilities are:

  • Execute tracking and alignment of software components included on solution
  • Track component versions, branches and merges – GIT advanced user (GIT maintainer as a benefit)
  • Approve merges to the branch, including merge conflict’s resolution
  • Prepare release documentation: Release Notes, Proof of tests, installation notes
  • Track and manage the solution configuration
  • Ticket management
  • Maintain the CI/CD with the DevOps team assistance – Jenkins advanced user as a benefit
  • Run, monitor and do pipeline’s first triage
  • Involve respective teams to keep CI/CD green on daily basis as the POC
  • Change management (CRs & HF) - Coordination of new scope and fix issue plans
  • Managing the lifecycle of a change
  • Work with ITMSO on SIS plan build and validation
  • Prepare Production and non-Production environment’s update: communication plan, installation plan, roll-back plan and others as required
  • Run Production and non-Production environment’s update: HF/DF/Maintenance patch deployment
  • Manage deployment issues and troubleshooting
  • POC for Internal Release management, alignment of the installation plan with the stakeholders (Configuration / Environment support / Deployment Management / Solution delivery / Customer support)
Skills & Requirements
  • Release Planning and Coordination - Manage release schedules, timelines, and calendars;
  • Change Management – knowledge of change control processes, and governance, ITIL knowledge desired;
  • Documentation: Prepare release notes, rollback plans, and compliance reports;
  • CI/CD Understanding: Comprehend pipelines, branching strategies, and automated deployments (coding not required);
  • Environment and Configuration Management – Understand staging, pre-production and production environments;
  • Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and mitigate release-related risks;
  • Scripting and Automation: Basic familiarity with Bash, PowerShell, or Python for effective communication with engineers;
  • Source Control Management – Knowledge on Git branching, merging, tagging, conflict resolution.
Soft Skills
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management – acting as a bridge between development, QA, operations, and business teams;
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve disagreements between development and operations;
  • Leadership: Guide and coordinate cross-functional teams without direct formal authority;
  • Decision-Making Under Pressure: Confidently approve or stop releases in high-stakes scenarios;
  • Organization and Time Management: Prioritize and manage multiple releases while meeting SLAs;
  • Documentation Discipline: Maintain clear runbooks, deployment instructions, and troubleshooting guides;
  • Adaptability and Proactivity: Respond effectively to last-minute changes and identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Attention to Detail: Detect gaps in testing, approvals or dependencies before release;
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and address deployment failures or unexpected behaviors.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
