About the role: The Procurement Portfolio Manager (Fixed term contract - 9 months) provides end to end portfolio management, supporting multiple categories of varying degrees of complexity across their allocated portfolio. They are responsible for the categories of spend within their portfolio. The Procurement Portfolio Manager will be responsible for supporting the development of strategies for each category within the portfolio looking at factors such as past and project procurement expenditure and external factors influencing the strategy. This role is a fixed term contract 9 months with an ASAP start. How will I help?
- Supporting the procurement transformation agenda within the Commercial procurement team, and across the broader business
- Being an advocate for a robust, transparent and accountable procurement culture and lead by example
- Providing governance, advice and guidance to internal stakeholders to build expertise in Procurement, and Procurement categories across the organisation.
- Delivering a portfolio/category management plan(s) that is in-line with the BU strategic plan and is supported by robust risk management, commercial compliance and associated processes, and ensures continuous value for money.
- Continually analyse, review, and monitor total category spend (strategic, tactical and operational) to ensure both short term and long term strategies are in place to maximise value (e.g. enhance catalogue options, use of panel and supply agreements, and long term contract plans).
- Supporting the delivery of best in class Contract Management and Supplier Performance frameworks.
- Adopting innovative sourcing methodologies and strategies to ensure maximum benefit and value for money for Bupa.
- Developing and maintaining a strong rapport with business units, engaging and influencing a range of key business stakeholders to enable delivery of outcomes.
- Building strong relationships with external stakeholders and maintain up to date knowledge of relevant markets, services and products, supplier innovations, international movements, competitor activities and industry bodies.
- Actively seeking to understand and address stakeholder requirements to profile future demand patterns and ensure category teams deliver superior service levels.
- Management of the operation of the portfolio team within budget.
- Leading and develop a high performing team focused on delivering quality and timely Procurement outcomes and optimum benefits.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, law, or supply chain operations, with postgraduate studies desirable.
- Successful experience in commercial management, from strategy development to execution.
- Significant business, commercial and financial acumen.
- Experience in successful commercial negotiations, with evidence of having applied innovative thinking, persuasive and negotiating skills and strategic planning
- Experience in working effectively within a matrix style organisation including at global level
- A strong understanding of customer experience and customer centricity principles
- Proactively takes ownership and acts with integrity to deliver required results.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders, working across organisational structures with a confident, collaborative, results oriented approach
- A passion to deliver extraordinary results within the Bupa Values framework
- Well organised, flexible and adaptable
- Objective, analytical and lateral thinking with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
