Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Data Science, the person in this role will balance hands-on model development activities while owning the full Supply Chain & Logistics theme for Data Science at Bunge. This is a role with worldwide scope, encompassing extensive road freight, train, river transportation optimization in both South and North America and vessel optimization across the whole world, and the whole product range of Bunge. The scope includes responsibility for managing & discussing with global stakeholders at all levels up to and including the Supply Chain & Logistics VP Level. The person in this role will deliver projects and outcomes through managing a team of 5-8 data scientists in multiple locations.
**Responsibilities**:
- Design, create, test and implement complex models and algorithms that drive analytical solutions throughout the organization
- Conduct advanced statistical and other analysis to provide actionable insights, identify trends, and measure performance
- Build a strong and diverse team of Data Scientists and develop them to maintain high quality and impactful delivery to the business
- Collaborate with translators and understand business problems to implement scalable and sustainable solutions
- Coordinate with Digital Specialists and Data Engineers to deliver holistic analytical solutions
- Communicate together with translators the design, functioning and output of the analytical models/solutions developed to the stakeholders
- Ensure timely analysis and testing for regular maintenance of solutions over time
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Master's degree required, PhD preferred. (Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics or related technical discipline)
- 5 years minimum, 8 years preferred, industry experience in a statistical and/or data science / business intelligence role solving real world business problems
- Demonstrated ability to think ahead strategically 2-3 years with a vision in mind, fitting together all aspects of Supply Chain & Logistics
- Should have experience in OR, machine learning, statistics, optimization or related fields; deeper experience in working with large data sets, simulation/ optimization or distributed computing tools is a plus
- Experience with programming is required; specific experience in R or Python is a plus
- Experience of working with large data sets, simulation/ optimization, cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS) and distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop,Hive, Spark, etc.) is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and working with multiple stakeholders
- Professional attitude and service orientation; team player
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Quick learner to business needs and translating them into potential analytics solutions
- Strong work ethic; ability to work at an abstract level and gain consensus
- Able to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates a comfortable and effective workplace
