We are a professional services firm offering services in software engineering, cloud, technical consulting, programming & quality assurance, DevOps, applications, UX, product management, and project management. Metal Toad is fully remote, with all team members able to work from home. The selected candidate must be available Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time (PST). Although the company is remote, we seek contractors residing in Brazil for this position. Compensation will be made in Brazilian Reais (R$). Job Description The System Administrator position requires experience maintaining infrastructure for high‑availability, scalable, enterprise‑grade applications. You will be part of a talented team that works on mission‑critical applications. Responsibilities Planning: Document comprehensive cloud hosting systems, including capacity planning, software and instance type selection, allocation, and network design. Building systems by executing installation, configuration, and testing of cloud resources. Using automation and configuration management to ensure repeatability and traceability of changes. Managing services: troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks, and operating systems. Protecting system integrity and security by implementing access controls, monitoring tools, and providing written evaluations and recommendations. Maintaining system performance through monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning. Maintaining internal systems and customer deployment documentation. Participating in a 24×7 on‑call rotation (approx. one week on call, one week on backup per month). Responding to support tickets and incidents in a timely manner that corresponds to SLA commitments. Learning: Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Qualifications Read and agree to our Corporate Values Statement. Believe in the company mission: to help people. 2+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Advanced to fluent English communication skills are essential. Additional experience with other cloud providers is a bonus. Familiar with Linux System Administration. Scripting language experience (Python and Shell preferred). Deep knowledge of TCP/IP and HTTP protocols. Experience with web accelerators, load balancers, reverse proxies, and CDNs. Problem solver willing to work in an agile/fast‑paced environment. Customer‑oriented with good communication skills. Willing to participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation with an approximate one shift per month compensated. Nice to have AWS Certifications or willingness to obtain them. Interest in Generative AI technologies. Some experience with Windows System Administration.
