HPC System Administrator – Lenovo We are currently hiring for an HPC System Administrator to work onsite for a customer based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Responsibilities Monitoring, maintaining, and managing the physical infrastructure of a data center, ensuring its smooth operation, reliability, and security. Monitoring power, cooling systems, and network connectivity. Hardware and system software debugging and troubleshooting. OS management and addressing hardware and software issues. Responding to alerts, performing preventive maintenance, rolling out/upgrading firmware, and managing any issues to minimize downtime and optimize data availability. Act as the customer’s single point of contact (SPOC). Opening hardware trouble tickets with vendors. Following up and reporting progress on all issues. Respond to users and provide support on daily operations of the cluster. Daily system administration tasks including granting and deleting access. Investigate and correct hardware defects in the cluster, adhering to service levels. Resolve errors through development, testing, and implementation of changes to the system. Provide corrective and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and isolate defects. Perform software and firmware testing for any fixes, upgrades, and security patches. Update customer documentation as necessary to reflect changes. Compile monthly reporting and participate in monthly customer service reviews where required. Additional Responsibilities Installation, configuration, and support of services within the central customer Research Computing Services platform team. Work with vendors and the customer Technology Office to design, implement, and upgrade services using change management and revision control. Analyze and troubleshoot system issues, defining and resolving complex problems. Develop innovative solutions to continuously improve HPC and address shortfalls in provision. Work closely with other customer staff, including Infrastructure Technology, Security, and Governance teams. Maintain knowledge of technical developments, tools, and ideas in HPC. Work flexibly as part of the customer Platform Team, supporting group activities and undertaking individual projects. Write and maintain documentation on system design and management processes. Deliver high-quality service through collaboration and analytical skills. Actively participate in meetings, representing the customer, and facilitating collaboration between partners. Assist researchers to utilize HPC resources, providing subject matter expertise support to Customer Research Computing Analysts. Position Requirements Experience in Linux (Suse, RHEL, CentOS). Experience in system troubleshooting, monitoring, and support. Experience in system administration. Experience in hardware support, hardware break‑fix, replacements, and installations. Fluency in English and Portuguese. Ability to perform OS installation and upgrades independently. Ability to perform high‑level problem determination.
