About The Team/Role

As a member of the Logistics Business Unit operations team, you’ll design and implement initiatives across Brazil’s market to continuously enhance the customer online and offline experience through our product and operations. 99Entrega is our last mile delivery service, using cars, motos, utilitários, vans and small trucks. Be prepared for a hectic, fast-paced and challenging environment.

This data-driven role requires a rare combination of analytical thinking and inter-personal ability to manage operations, sales and technical stakeholders, while being the:

• Marketplace Optimization: Local contributor on the mathematical models and algorithmic strategies powering our three-sided crowdshipping marketplace (Shippers, Carriers, End-users). Balances supply, demand, and cost to optimize for speed, reliability, and unit economics.
• Technical Strategy & Translator: Translate operational challenges into precise mathematical problems for Algorithm Development and Engineering teams. Act as the translator between market reality and optimization code.
• Algorithmic Roadmap Contributor: Define the “what” and “why” behind the code; ensure the roadmap aligns with business goals across service tiers (Express, Scheduled, Economic).
• Business Metrics Enhancement: Analyze data to understand how architecture decisions affect liquidity, fleet utilization, fulfillment rates, and profitability to optimize business performance.

In this role, you’ll be...

• Propose Optimization Strategies: Analyze real-time matching, dynamic pricing, and resource allocation to maximize successful matches and minimize cost and wait time.
• Provide Data-Driven Insights for Tech Teams: Work with the Algorithm Development team to define objective functions, constraints, and KPIs; create clear business requirements and validation frameworks.
• Synthesize Market Intelligence: Gather qualitative and quantitative frontline insights and transform them into actionable algorithm briefs.
• Analyze and Interpret Performance: Conduct deep-dive analyses to diagnose bottlenecks and identify opportunities for improvement; model second-order effects of algorithm changes before deployment.

We’re eager to be in touch because you have...

• Quantitative & Modeling Expertise: A MS or PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field is a plus; 2+ years designing and implementing optimization models for large-scale marketplaces.
• Deep Modeling Knowledge: Optimization (Linear/Integer Programming, Constraint Programming, Stochastic Optimization), Routing (VRP, TSP), Matching Theory, combinatorial approaches.
• Technical Fluency (not primary coder): Proficiency with Python, SQL, R, MATLAB is a plus; ability to understand algorithmic complexity and guide technical teams.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience liaising between technical and non-technical teams; able to translate business problems to engineers and vice versa.
• Domain Knowledge: Direct experience in logistics, transportation, or last-mile delivery; intuitive understanding of marketplace metrics (liquidity, utilization, density).
• Personal Attributes: Hypothesis-driven, insatiably curious, business-oriented, entrepreneurial, with strong communication, adaptability, empathy, teamwork, and a proactive results focus.
