We are a seed-stage startup backed by leading investors, building a team of world-class engineers to create the core of our product and solve some of the most challenging problems in applied AI.The RoleWe’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help architect and scale the systems behind our AI-powered agent. You’ll build performant APIs, orchestrate LLM workflows, manage contextual memory, and ensure low-latency performance across high-scale, multi-tenant environments.This is a high-impact, hands-on role. You’ll work closely with our CTO, AI team, and product leads to develop foundational infrastructure for a truly agentic user experience.What You’ll DoDesign and implement scalable, low-latency backend services using JavaBuild and maintain APIs that support real-time agent actions and feature executionOrchestrate LLM workflows including prompt routing, context injection, and memory managementDevelop secure, multi-tenant APIs for our web application.Leverage Big Query, Mongo, Redis, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub for real-time analytics, caching, and messagingEnsure observability, traceability, and reliability across agent behaviors and backend systemsCollaborate cross-functionally with AI, product, and frontend teams to deliver seamless, intelligent user flowsTech StackLanguage: JavaCloud: Google Cloud Platform (GCP)Data & Messaging: Big Query, My SQL, Mongo, Redis, Pub/SubAI/LLM: Open AI, Google Vertex AI, LLM orchestration framework, vector DBsInfra & Tooling: Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, GCP Cloud MonitoringWhat You BringA deep sense of ownership and accountability, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous environment, and the drive to produce high-quality features end-to-end.5+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably in high-scale, real-time systemsDeep expertise in Java and backend architectureStrong expertise in multi-tenant architecture, system scalability, and security best practices.Passion for performance, reliability, and building robust systemsBonus If You HaveExperience with agentic systems or LLM-driven user interfacesFamiliarity with LLM integrations and AI workflow orchestration in production environmentsBuilt systems for context-aware personalization or dynamic workflow executionExperience with GCP, Big Query, Redis, Pub/Sub, Mongo, and event-driven systemsFamiliarity with conversational memory, embeddings, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)Why Join Foldspace?
