Requirements:

  1. Completed university degree in mechanical engineering or related field;
  2. Advanced English;
  3. Specific knowledge of:
  • Office package.
  • Reading technical drawings.
5 years in automotive industry;Application Engineering;Proactive;Communicative;Logical thinking;OEM Auto / Auto Ancillary (tier 1) Specific skills / Personal attributes;Experience in driveline components/systems design and development is required;Sense of responsibility, investigation, and diagnosis;Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner;Ability to travel-domestic;Demonstrated ability of being a team player;Demonstrated ability to train subordinates;Demonstrated ability to take ownership of deliverables and lead resolution of issues;Must have strong project management experience to organize multiple responsibilities and meet multiple deadlines;Must be a self-directed, motivated, and organized individual who is willing to accept multiple tasks & responsibilities;Excellent written, verbal, presentation, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to successfully function in and lead cross-functional teams;Excellent customer relationship skill.

Summary Position Description:

Provide technical support to customers and manufacturing to answer questions and assist in root cause analysis of technical issues. Manage new developments, including proposal phases, product definition, supplier development, product validation, start of production (SOP) and post-SOP support, meeting project objectives such as financial KPIs, timelines and product quality. Develop product design and application proposals, including FMEA reviews, drawing and modeling (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), and system calculations to meet customer specifications and validation test requirements. Develop and support cost reduction and product streamlining initiatives.

Activities Description:

  1. Awareness of IATF 16949 Quality management systems is required.
  2. Develop product design proposals including system calculations to meet customer specifications and test requirements.
  3. Provide leadership and guidance for the Sales team by developing design proposals to meet customer specifications, certifications, and documentation requirements (specification analysis, selection, estimate & costing, quotation). Liaising with Dana Global Industrial team when necessary.
  4. Utilize the resources of the various support groups to provide an optimized design which can be manufactured economically and according to the project timing requirements.
  5. Follow Program Management and Stage Gate development processes to meet project goals including budget, timing, and quality of delivery for identified projects. Document lessons learned and update procedures as applicable.
  6. Lead product development and validation activities including: DFMEA, design reviews, drawing and model creation (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), prototype builds, DV/PV testing, NVH verification, design for manufacturing, stack-ups, and key supplier development.
  7. Shall be able to create workflow (EWO, SR etc.) in PLM system.
  8. Analyze test data to verify conformance to requirements and establish action plans as needed.
  9. Prepare and present damage analysis and other various engineering analysis to demonstrate the integrity of product prior to test.
  10. Support Advanced Program Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
  11. Develop and maintain prototype and test validation plans (DVP&R) to meet key customer program timing.
  12. Assist and lead root cause analysis of technical issues.
  13. Provide technical support to customer during all phases of vehicle development including pre-sourcing, vehicle validation, product validation, vehicle start of production (SOP), and post-SOP.
  14. Communicate all engineering and development issues as needed to Dana internal functions – Program Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, and Engineering Management.
  15. Identify competitive benchmarking needs and work in partnership with benchmarking organization to collect needed data.
  16. Develop and support cost savings initiatives and proposals. Propose and critique design concepts for cost savings initiatives with issue resolution.
  17. Prepare and conduct technical presentations (Customer and Dana internal).
  18. Analyze warranty data and develop effective counter measures.
  19. Work directly with Dana’s Global Product Engineering team to develop and test new products when required to meet local North America market requirements.
  20. Participate, when requested by the Sales Network, in negotiation/complex negotiation to assure technical support to Regional Sales Manager/Area Manager/Sales Network.
