The incumbent Product Stewardship Specialist, Chemical Compliance (Latin America) is responsible for supporting the regional compliance, hazard classification and communication, chemical reporting and other regulations and customer requirements related to the ingredients and chemical composition of products in support of the chemical management, safety assessment, stewardship, sustainability reporting and product compliance through all phases of development, commercialization, and post-market life cycle management. This position is located in **São Paulo,** Brazil.
**Principal Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement programs to achieve full compliance with chemicals registration and notification regulations in the region, including developing sound working relationships with service providers.
- Anticipate, communicate, and manage regulatory changes via Regulatory Intelligence tools with respect to existing regulations that may impact existing product lines and benefit new product introduction.
- Work with /act as a primary contact for regional counterparts to manage emerging issue identification process. Collaborate on cross-functional team to support the management of chemical product risk and regulatory compliance, sustainability, and customer reporting to reduce the health and environmental impact of K-C products. Identify, escalate as appropriate, and resolve chemical compliance issues that may impact K-C products or business.
- Conduct product and substance hazard classification, author and provide for hazard communication (Safety Data Sheets, Precautionary Labelling, relevant reporting, etc.) based on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) and local country requirements.
- Perform reviews/assessment of Finished products, their ingredients/raw materials and determine the applicability of various regional chemical and product ingredient regulations to the product or raw materials. Communicate and support compliance actions.
- Support product safety evaluations and hazard classification of products sold in Latin America to enable compliance to applicable product standards and chemical regulations.
- Designate and obtain necessary analytical test data as needed for hazard classification, determination of compliance criterion, or as needed for substance registration or notification programs. Contribute to product compliance testing, including scheduling, test article shipment and final report review as needed.
- Oversee Dangerous Goods Transportation compliance program for K-C Finished products marketed in region, including compilation of or input/contribution to the preparation of regulatory reports (as legally required), procedures, compliance systems, and training programs; proving training and conducting audits; monitoring regulations. Act as a certified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor, if/as required by applicable Regional and National regulations.
- Enter/coordinate entering product Bill of Materials in SAP EHS database, manage chemical and ingredient regulatory compliance data and SAP reporting activities, and collaborate with team members to ensure ongoing compliance through change management, new product development and market expansion.
- Ensure data entered into SAP EHS for finished products is maintained with high quality standards in accordance with data models developed to support product safety, stewardship and chemical regulation compliance.
- Prepare chemical reporting data, ingredient listings and technical chemical compliance assessments for Product Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Sustainability reporting, and customer requirements in order meet regulatory obligations and product compliance determinations. Deliver chemical and product safety information to digital platforms for external customers.
**Qualifications**:
- Experience organizing large sets of chemical safety and regulatory data, research/product safety testing report information and the entering of these data into SAP EHS or similar type databases.
- Experience in interpretation of product chemical regulations and implementation of associated compliance programs.
- Knowledge of toxicology and ecotoxicology data relevant to Safety Data Sheet authoring.
- Working knowledge of invoicing/accounting/contract management practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively (speak, read, write) in Spanish and English
- Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic and international).
