Job Overview
Our organization is seeking a Junior Talent Manager to oversee the scheduling and performance management of a population of approximately 60 consultants across various offices and practices. This role will involve developing relationships with each consultant, understanding their strengths, development objectives, personal preferences, and career goals.
Talent Management
- Utilize the performance management process as a foundation for engaging consultants on development needs and areas for training.
- Develop trust-based relationships with each consultant and assist in directing them towards resources for career advice.
- Escalate employee relations issues or questions related to human capital operations when necessary.
- Monitor work-life-quality issues and escalate when required.
- Collaborate with the Human Capital Manager on managing the pyramid, training, onboarding, performance improvement initiatives, and data analysis.
Project Staffing
- Understand the nuances of the type of work and roles being filled at a high level.
- Liaise with project team leaders to comprehend staffing needs in your area.
- Collect relevant details from partners and practice group TMs on projects to be staffed, anticipating capacity issues and managing expectations accordingly.
- Communicate staffing outcomes to consultants under your TM purview in an empathetic manner.
- Track mobility issues, holidays, trainings, background checks, and other ad-hoc staffing enabling tasks.
- Ensure consultant files are kept current and readily available for project proposals.
- Track your consultant's performance, skills, and development needs to guide their growth and progression within our organization.
Consultant Development and Performance Management
- Comprehend the performance management framework and competency model and its application to individual consultant situations.
- Coordinate with the Learning and Development Team on appropriate training for your consultants.
- Review all performance appraisals and follow-up on any issues or performance flags with project teams and managers.
- Coordinate, attend, and contribute to annual career review meetings for your consultant populations.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Review weekly utilization reports and cross-reference with systems to ensure latest information is captured.
- Assist in assembling the project pipeline and consultant availability reports.
- Prepare documents and exhibits for senior leadership meetings using Excel and PowerPoint.
- Assist in analyzing performance outcome results.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and reporting as needed.
- Demonstrate capability in using Enterprise Resource Management tools and performance systems.
- Maintain employee records and keep resource planning systems up to date.
Oliver Wyman Development
- Participate in project work within and adjacent to the broader Human Capital function on topics such as employee experience, retention, flexible working, utilization, performance, etc.
- Organize your work and display ability to guide colleagues in building project deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-practice group, market, and regional teams to deliver special or ad-hoc assignments in a collaborative manner.
- Embody Oliver Wyman values in day-to-day activities.
- Display a strong willingness to learn more about Oliver Wyman outside of the Talent Management function by seeking opportunities for broader involvement.
