What You’ll Do
  • Drive and embed Airwallex’s compliance program in Brazil by designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring screening and monitoring rules.
  • Support regulatory obligations for the Brazil market; report to the Regional Director of Financial Crime Compliance for the Americas and EMEA.
  • Lead the development, launch, and management of key compliance programs.
  • Own and develop the FCC compliance framework of Airwallex in Brazil, building on the Airwallex global compliance framework.
  • Manage day-to-day AML regulatory interactions, examinations, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Represent Airwallex with external stakeholders, including regulators and financial partners.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective AML program and related controls.
  • Oversee day-to-day BAU tasks including enhanced due diligence (EDD) approvals, name screening alert escalations, and filing Suspicious Matter Reports when necessary.
  • Provide advice and support to the Commercial and Operations teams on compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Partnership team to address enquiries from external parties including banking and scheme partners.
  • Develop and manage regular monitoring and reporting processes to inform senior management, the audit committee, and the board as required.
  • Design and execute reports to measure AML initiatives, operations, key metrics, and key risk indicators (KRIs).
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to address issues from internal audits, self-assessments, compliance reviews, or regulatory examinations.
  • Drive internal controls design and monitoring to support Compliance Operational policy and procedures.
Who You Are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum of 8 years’ financial crimes compliance experience in a financial institution licensed by the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB).
  • Ability to multitask under deadlines with challenging priorities.
  • Credible stakeholder engagement and management skills aligned with our values and behaviors.
  • Written and verbal fluency in Portuguese and English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding and knowledge of the payments industry.
  • Experience as MLRO.
