Applications are now open for one (1) post-doctoral fellowship in the Computer Science Division of the AeronauticalTechnology Institute (ITA), for the project "Beyond Algorithm Selection: Meta-Learning for Data and Algorithm Analysis and Understanding."

The objective of the project is to study and propose strategies to extract knowledge from the relationship between meta-features of one or more datasets and the algorithmic performance of Machine Learning (ML) techniques to: assess and identify data quality issues; and characterize the strengths and weaknesses of ML algorithms. This knowledge will then be used to support the mitigation of data quality issues and to develop new ML solutions.

The selected candidates will work at the AeronauticalTechnology Institute (ITA), located in São José dos Campos, São Paulo state, Brazil, under the supervision of Professor Ana Carolina Lorena.

Requirements: Applicants must have some experience with Python or R. Knowledge in machine learning is also desirable. Academic performance in undergraduate and/or graduate programs must be outstanding, with no failing grades. Exclusive dedication to the scholarship is required. The doctoral degree must have been obtained within the last 7 years.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
