Opportunity Our organization seeks a seasoned Backend Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can contribute to delivering complex solutions and driving technical excellence in building high-performance data platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems and APIs. Leading DevOps initiatives including CI/CD pipeline management and cloud infrastructure management. Implementing and maintaining infrastructure as code using Terraform to ensure secure, reproducible, and automated deployments. Collaborating with stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver new features and improve existing systems. Ensuring disaster recovery readiness and compliance with security best practices. Managing and optimizing AWS services (S3, RDS, EventBridge, SQS, IAM, VPC, ECR, etc.). Deploying and managing Kubernetes (EKS) clusters and Docker images in production environments. Troubleshooting complex issues across distributed systems and driving root cause analysis. Maintaining high standards of code quality, testing, and documentation. Collaborating across engineering teams (Platform, Security, UX) to ensure seamless integration and delivery. Required Skills and Qualifications Professional experience in functional programming, preferably with JavaScript. Proven experience with DevOps practices and cloud-native environments. Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and Docker. Expertise with AWS (S3, RDS, EventBridge, SQS, DMS, Security Groups, IAM, VPCs, ECR). Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, RDS). Professional experience with Terraform (infrastructure as code). Solid understanding of application security and use of security tools. Strong debugging, issue resolution, and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an agile environment. Pragmatic mindset with a strong sense of ownership and craftsmanship. English proficiency for professional communication. Nice to Have Skills Experience with automated database migrations and versioning. Background in API integration and distribution systems. Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana). Exposure to multi-region cloud deployments. Previous experience supporting regulated industries or compliance-driven environments. Passion for mentoring team members and driving engineering best practices.
