Teaching Spanish at a High School The role of the High School Spanish Teacher involves teaching Spanish to students and fostering their linguistic, cultural, and academic development. Key Responsibilities: Develop and deliver effective Spanish language instruction that supports students' social, emotional, and academic growth. Collaborate with colleagues to promote a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Communicate regularly with fellow teachers regarding planning, assessment, parent communication, curriculum development, and classroom issues. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification/license. IB training and certification (desired). Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Language or a related discipline. Experience teaching Spanish at the high school level. Professional experience teaching IB Language A: Language & Literature or Literature, with a strong understanding of DP standards, assessment criteria, and internal/external moderation processes. Skills and Abilities: Extensive familiarity with the literature, culture, and academic conventions of the Spanish-speaking world. Ability to differentiate instruction for all learners. Understanding of inquiry-based learning and Competencies-based learning. Additional Information: Experience supporting students with diverse learning profiles in rigorous academic settings (desired). Experience teaching in international or multicultural contexts (desired).
